Chapter 15 - Haunted House

The day began with fire, explosions, and destruction on a scale that would terrify most people—but for Colette, it was just another day of testing her organization's latest arsenal. In the sprawling desert outside the city, Oakley stood beside her, clipboard in hand as their engineers prepared to demonstrate a new set of devastating weapons.

"These are some of the most advanced pieces of weaponry we've developed," Oakley said, his tone calm but proud. "They're capable of leveling entire cities in a matter of minutes. The precision-guided missiles alone could incinerate a square mile."

Colette raised an eyebrow, her sharp blue eyes scanning the array of tanks, missile systems, and enchanted artillery on display. "Sounds impressive," she said with a smirk. "Let's see if they live up to the hype."

One by one, the weapons were fired. Massive missiles streaked across the sky, exploding in fiery clouds that shook the ground beneath them. The enchanted cannons roared as they unleashed blasts of pure magic, obliterating everything in their paths. The engineers and soldiers watching from a distance cheered, marveling at the raw power of their creations.

But Colette remained unimpressed. She stood in the middle of the test field, arms crossed, her towering figure illuminated by the flames. Each time a weapon fired at her, the result was the same—it didn't even scratch her. The missiles and magical blasts dissipated against her scales as if they were nothing more than a breeze.

Oakley adjusted his glasses, his expression neutral. "As expected, boss. Nothing we have can even come close to harming you."

Colette let out a sigh, brushing some dust off her kimono. "I was hoping for at least a little excitement. Maybe next time, Oakley. Tell the engineers to try harder."

Oakley nodded, jotting down notes on his clipboard. "Understood, boss."

Colette stretched, her wings unfurling slightly. "I need a break. Let's call it a day."

Later that evening, Colette surprised Kent by suggesting they go to a Haunted House Close Call—one of the city's most infamous haunted attractions. Kent, who wasn't fond of horror or anything remotely scary, hesitated, but he ultimately agreed. He wanted to spend time with Colette, and her excitement about the idea was infectious.

As they approached the entrance, the eerie sounds of creaking doors and faint screams filled the air. Fog rolled along the ground, and dim red lights flickered ominously from within the building.

"Are you sure about this?" Kent asked, glancing nervously at the animatronic skeletons and grotesque decorations that lined the entrance.

Colette grinned, her sharp teeth glinting in the low light. "Oh, come on, darling. It'll be fun."

Kent sighed, steeling himself as they stepped inside. The first hallway was dark and narrow, with flickering lights casting unsettling shadows on the walls. A sudden loud crash made Kent jump, and he instinctively grabbed Colette's arm.

"Relax," Colette said, her voice calm and teasing. "It's all fake, Kent. Nothing here can hurt you."

Kent nodded, though his grip on her arm didn't loosen.

As they moved deeper into the haunted house, the scares became more elaborate. Actors in grotesque costumes jumped out from hidden corners, and animatronics hissed and lunged at them. Colette, of course, remained completely unfazed, her smirk growing wider each time Kent yelped or clung to her side.

"Y-you're enjoying this, aren't you?" Kent asked, his voice trembling as another animatronic spider descended from the ceiling.

"Maybe a little," Colette admitted, wrapping an arm around his shoulders. "But I'm also here to protect you. So don't worry—you've got the scariest thing in here on your side."

Kent gave her a nervous laugh, his cheeks flushing.

As they rounded a corner, the hallway suddenly filled with smoke, and a loud roar echoed through the space. A monstrous figure lunged toward them, and Kent, startled, stumbled backward—right into Colette. In his panic, his hands shot out to steady himself, landing squarely on her chest.

Time seemed to freeze. Kent's face turned an impossibly deep shade of red as he realized where his hands were. "I-I didn't mean—!" he stammered, pulling his hands away as if he'd been burned.

Colette, on the other hand, looked absolutely delighted. Her sharp blue eyes sparkled with amusement, and her smirk widened into a full grin.

"Oh, Kent," she said, her voice low and teasing. "If you wanted to touch me, you could have just asked."

Kent covered his face with his hands, his voice muffled. "It was an accident!"

Colette leaned down, wrapping her arms around him and pulling him into a tight hug. Her large breasts pressed against his face, and she laughed softly. "Relax, darling. I don't mind. In fact, I'm flattered."

"C-Colette!" Kent protested, though his voice was muffled by her embrace.

She kissed the top of his head, her tail curling around his waist. "You're too cute when you're flustered, you know that?"

The rest of the haunted house passed in a blur for Kent, who couldn't stop thinking about his accidental slip-up. Colette, however, seemed to enjoy every moment, particularly how close Kent stayed to her.

When they finally exited the haunted house, Kent let out a deep breath, his nerves thoroughly frayed. "I don't know how you talked me into that," he said, shaking his head.

Colette chuckled, draping an arm around his shoulders. "Because you can't say no to me, darling. And you love spending time with me, even when it's terrifying."

Kent couldn't argue with that. Despite the scares—and the embarrassing moment—he was glad they had gone together.

Colette kissed his cheek, her smile softer now. "Thank you for coming with me, Kent. I had a wonderful time."

He smiled back, his blush fading slightly. "As long as you're happy, it was worth it."

"Oh, I'm more than happy," Colette replied, her smirk returning. "You made my night, darling."

With that, the two of them headed home, Kent silently hoping they wouldn't be visiting any more haunted houses anytime soon.
