Chapter 16 - Anniversary Spoils

The atmosphere in Colette's office was icy as she stared down at the group of employees standing nervously before her. These weren't just any employees—they were trusted members of her organization, now caught smuggling contraband for rival gangs.

"You disappoint me," she said, her voice low and cold, the temperature in the room dropping with every word. "Do you have any idea what kind of damage you've done? You're trading my resources, my territory, for scraps from someone else. Why?"

One of the men, a human with sweat dripping down his temple, dared to speak. "Boss, we were just trying to—"

"Spare me your excuses," Colette interrupted, slamming a clawed hand onto her desk. The sound reverberated through the room, silencing him immediately. "You think I don't know desperation when I see it? You're lucky I'm in a good mood today."

The men exchanged wary glances, unsure of whether her words were a blessing or a curse.

"Here's what's going to happen," Colette continued, her sharp blue eyes piercing into each of them. "You're going to fix the mess you've made. Every single one of those goods you smuggled will be accounted for, or I'll personally ensure you regret it. Understand?"

The men nodded vigorously, their voices trembling as they answered, "Yes, boss."

"Good," she said, leaning back in her chair. "Get out of my sight. And don't let this happen again."

They scrambled to leave, and as the door closed behind them, Colette let out a long sigh. Normally, she wouldn't have been so lenient, but today wasn't just any day. Today was her and Kent's anniversary, and she wasn't going to let anything ruin it.

Later that evening, Colette stepped into their shared room, where countless lavish gifts were laid out for Kent. Expensive jewelry glittered under the soft lighting, luxury watches were displayed in velvet cases, and the keys to a brand-new sports car and even a private jet sat atop a polished wooden table. She'd spent a small fortune curating these items, wanting to shower her husband with everything he could ever dream of.

Kent, dressed casually in a button-up shirt and slacks, entered the room with a smile. "Colette, you didn't have to go this far," he said, his tone warm but hesitant.

"I wanted to," Colette replied, stepping closer to him. Her tall, curvaceous frame towered over his as she gestured to the array of gifts. "You deserve the best, Kent. And I'll give you anything you want—cars, jets, diamonds… name it, and it's yours."

Kent looked at the gifts, his smile faltering slightly. He tried to mask it, but Colette's sharp eyes caught the flicker of discomfort in his expression.

"Do you like them?" she asked, tilting her head.

"They're amazing," Kent said quickly. "Really, Colette, I appreciate everything you've done. You're so generous."

But something about his tone didn't sit right with her.

She stepped closer, her blue eyes narrowing slightly as she placed a gentle hand on his cheek. "You're faking it," she said softly.

Kent's eyes widened. "What? No, I—"

"Don't lie to me, Kent," Colette interrupted, her voice gentle but firm. "I can tell when you're not being honest. If none of this makes you happy, then tell me what you really want."

Kent hesitated, glancing at the array of gifts before turning back to her. His face softened, and he let out a quiet sigh. "What I want… is to spend time with you, Colette. Just you. No meetings, no gifts, no distractions. Just us… cuddling, like we always do."

Colette froze, his words catching her completely off guard. She stared at him for a long moment, her heart swelling with emotion.

"Cuddle?" she repeated, her voice barely above a whisper.

He nodded, a small smile on his face. "Yeah. That's all I want. You mean more to me than any of this stuff. Just being with you is enough."

Colette's eyes softened, and before Kent could say another word, she scooped him into her arms, holding him tightly against her chest.

"You're incredible," she murmured, her voice trembling slightly. "How did I get so lucky to have you?"

Kent blushed, his face pressed against her large breasts as she hugged him tightly. "C-Colette, you're crushing me…"

"I don't care," she said, her voice playful as she began rubbing her chest against his face. "You're mine, Kent, and I'm never letting you go."

"C-Colette!" he protested, though his muffled voice was more embarrassed than upset.

She laughed softly, her tail wrapping around his waist as she continued to hold him close. "You're so humble, so kind… and so adorable when you're flustered."

Kent's cheeks burned, but he couldn't help but smile. "I love you, Colette."

"And I love you," she replied, leaning down to kiss him on the forehead, then on the lips. The kiss was gentle at first, but quickly deepened as Colette poured all her affection into the moment.

After a while, she finally set him down, though her tail remained curled around him. "Come on," she said, guiding him to the bed. "If cuddling is what you want, then that's what you'll get. All night, if you want."

Kent smiled, leaning against her as they settled into bed together. As they lay there, Colette couldn't help but feel grateful—not for the gifts she'd given him, but for the love they shared.

For Kent, this was the perfect anniversary: just the two of them, wrapped in each other's arms, with no need for anything else.
