Chapter 62: A New Sanctuary
Iron Man once claimed his arc reactor could output 3 billion joules of energy per second. To understand the concept of 3 billion joules:
3 billion joules is roughly equivalent to 833 kilowatt-hours, or 833 units of electricity.
In other words, a single cell from Chang Wei produces more electricity than Tony Stark's arc reactor. Furthermore, Chang Wei's total number of cells far surpasses that of humans. A typical human body contains about 40-60 trillion cells, while in Naruto, it's said to be 130 trillion cells.
However, Chang Wei's cells are at the molecular scale, meaning his total cell count is an astronomical 10 quadrillion—10,000 trillion!
The energy produced by the Hiroshima atomic bomb, approximately 15 million kilowatt-hours, is only equivalent to the energy generated by 15,000 of Chang Wei's cells in a single second.
This illustrates the sheer magnitude of his energy. The total energy humans have produced—from the Stone Age to the present—might not even equal one billionth of Chang Wei's power. With a simple gesture, he could unleash energy on a scale that outmatches hurricanes, tsunamis, or even thousands of nuclear bombs.
He is truly a moving catastrophe. If placed in the world of One Punch Man, at the very least, he would qualify as "Dragon-level or above."
After all, the feats Boros achieved are now easily within Chang Wei's capabilities. The "Collapsing Star Roaring Cannon" Boros boasted of, which channeled immense energy for propulsion to achieve speeds beyond any living being, is something Chang Wei could surpass effortlessly. His own abilities far exceed Boros's in both destruction and regeneration.
Now, Chang Wei has attained molecular-level regeneration. Each molecule contains enough energy to enable his rebirth, making him even harder to kill than Boros.
As long as his energy is inexhaustible, he is truly immortal.
"Out of nowhere, I've ascended to an Immortal, undying life form…"
Chang Wei had fantasized about eternal life before, but he never imagined it would be realized so easily. It left him feeling somewhat hollow, as if it weren't real.
"Hm?"
Through his telepathic perception, Chang Wei sensed a large group of people entering the Sahara Desert.
"Investigating… here… explosion…"
Deep in thought, Chang Wei recalled that the underground Hive base had already been breached by his T-virus hunters. That base could withstand a nuclear explosion, so it should still be intact, though Chang Wei wasn't entirely sure of the current situation due to the distance.
It's possible the Red Queen had taken care of things. After all, it was later revealed that the underground base was still operational, with all its mechanisms intact. Just the laser corridor alone was capable of killing an uncommanded group of T-virus hunters. And let's not forget the door mechanism that crushed the infamous Wesker.
Of course, Wesker's loss of authority and the Red Queen locking down the virus in his body might have also contributed, but the situation was still amusing.
"So, the T-virus… has become active."
Chang Wei's Blacklight Virus on the surface detected T-virus particles in the air. The T-virus, known for its extreme adaptability, could survive in the air under conditions that would max out resistance stats in a game like Plague Inc. Its environmental adaptability was unparalleled.
Expanding his telepathic perception to cover areas of human activity, Chang Wei received a flood of information. Reports from around the world spoke of "rabies-like" attacks on bystanders, as well as urban legends of "ghouls" appearing in various locations.
Alice's release of the Raccoon City footage was doing little to harm Umbrella Corporation. In the original plot, Umbrella's immense wealth and power easily suppressed any exposés.
Unlike in the games, where Umbrella was dismantled and bankrupted, the movies had a more sci-fi tone. The notion that a few whistleblowers could topple a megacorporation like Umbrella seemed absurd—what they lacked, the movies made up for.
"Infection numbers have already exceeded one million, though it's still under control. That's probably why they have the luxury of sending people to investigate the Sahara Desert. Lucky for them, this means most of them will survive."
Chang Wei smirked. The desert was currently far safer than cities or other populated areas. Under the scorching heat, even the T-virus, with its astonishing resistance, wouldn't survive for more than a few days. The only concern would be people with weak immune systems turning into zombies.
He had thought deeply about it and concluded that imitating Noah's Ark wasn't a scientifically viable solution. Human reproduction isn't something that can be resolved with just one pair of individuals. Modern geneticists haven't found evidence that humanity descended from a single pair of ancestors.
More importantly, during the time of Jesus's birth, China was in the Han Dynasty. By that reckoning, the Great Flood of Noah's Ark might align with the era of Yu the Great controlling the floods.
The idea of humanity descending from a single pair is impossible—at least 10,000 individuals would have been required.
The mention of Noah's Ark's remains being found is also debatable. The West has a precedent of identifying random artifacts as historical relics from thousands of years ago. Who knows what's real or fake?
