Chapter 71: The End of the World Is Complete

Even faster!

Chang Wei's body instantly adapted to the intensity of air friction. He took a second step, pushing his speed to exceed a hundred times the speed of sound!

At such a velocity, it was a forbidden zone for life. Not to mention living organisms—even steel bodies couldn't withstand it.

Yet Chang Wei still felt the cells on the surface of his body quickly deteriorating from friction. However, before he could even take a few steps at this speed, new and stronger cells regenerated!

Chang Wei could distinctly feel his power growing at a maddening pace. The high-speed, high-mobility pressure acted as a rebound stimulus, activating and mutating several viruses in his body. Even the Stairway to the Sun Progenitor Virus, which he originally intended to evolve later, joined in.

Unlike the evolution of the Blacklight Virus G-type, G-virus, and T-virus, the Stairway to the Sun Progenitor Virus evolved primarily to preserve itself. It sensed an immense survival pressure. Fortunately, the energy within Chang Wei's body was abundant to the point of overflowing, allowing the virus to evolve seamlessly.

The destroyed cells became tougher and stronger, almost indestructible, filling Chang Wei's body with terrifying power. He even felt uncomfortable from the overwhelming energy and urgently needed to release it!

He was about to explode!

The energy and strength were so overwhelming that Chang Wei felt immense discomfort. He punched the ground with all his might.

That single punch caused the entire Earth to tremble. The continent beneath his feet experienced a tectonic fracture, and even the Sahara Desert was split in two due to the intense earthquake.

"Boom!!!"

The ground caved into a massive crater, visible even from Earth's orbit. It resembled the asteroid impact that ended the dinosaur era.

What followed was even more horrifying. The crater acted like a fuse, causing the surrounding ground to split instantly. With an earth-shattering roar, the entire continent fractured.

"Damn, now I can shatter continents with just raw strength?"

Chang Wei was astonished. His cells had adapted to the extreme conditions of high speed, high pressure, high heat, and high energy. Even if he returned to his normal state, he could still level a mountain with a casual strike.

Every step he took was solid, rooted in progress. Each achievement was permanent, with no chance of regression or degeneration. He could only grow stronger and advance further.

The dual adaptability, evolution, and mutation of the Blacklight Virus G-type and G-virus brought Chang Wei closer to becoming a Doomsday entity, even if he wasn't one yet.

For him, injuries equated to becoming stronger.

Fortunately, this strengthening was controllable. Chang Wei only needed to halt the reaction of his cellular solar furnace. Without energy supply, the limitless strengthening would cease. Otherwise, he genuinely feared becoming like the golden-masked monster, passively growing stronger until energy depletion led to death.

Although his reasoning assured him that with his terrifying energy reserves, it was impossible to outpace his evolution rate, Chang Wei understood the vastness of the world. There were plenty of targets whose evolutionary speed he might struggle to match.

Halting the cellular solar furnace's reaction would stop evolution but allow molecular-level rapid regeneration. As long as energy wasn't depleted, he wouldn't die. The energy from his regular nuclear fission cell reactors was sufficient to sustain this rapid regeneration.

"I wonder if unleashing my full energy could penetrate the Earth's core and destroy the planet?"

A longing filled Chang Wei's heart—he wanted to test his limits.

However, he quickly snapped back to reality.

"Although the Resident Evil world no longer holds potential for me to exploit, it still has its benefits. I can't destroy it just yet."

For now, his mission to end the world had to be completed.

Chang Wei flew high into the sky.

"Itami o kanjiro (Feel pain!), itami o shire (Know pain!), itami o ukeirero (Accept pain!), itami o rikai shiro (Understand pain!), itami o rikai shinai monotachi (Those who do not understand pain), kesshite shin no heiwa o rikai suru koto wa nai (Will never understand true peace)! Ima kara (From now on), sekai ni itami o kanjisaseru (Let the world feel pain), Shinra Tensei (Shinra Tensei)!"

A solar-heatwave-like halo spread across the entire world!

Wherever it passed, magma covered the land, the atmosphere turned into fiery clouds, and the sea levels visibly dropped under the terrifying thermal radiation.

Chang Wei maintained this state until he had completely evaporated the ocean, concluding his "roast Earth" operation. By then, all living organisms on the surface had perished. Except for the Sahara Desert, protected by his telekinetic shield, nearly no life remained. What was left were microbes deep within rock layers.

Even the polar ice caps had melted, leaving dry, cracked seafloors baked under the heat. The familiar water cycle process began again—what the Predators once achieved, Chang Wei now accomplished with his own power.

The only difference was that he nearly burned through the atmosphere in the process.

Thanks to Earth's gravitational pull, the atmosphere remained intact, preventing water from escaping. No matter how much evaporation occurred, water molecules still existed. Unless Chang Wei went insane and destroyed the water molecules themselves, water would persist.

But he wasn't that deranged. Why waste effort destroying water molecules? For fun?

Chang Wei was curious about what Alice and her group would do next. Ending the world was easy; creating one was the real challenge. Unless Chang Wei planned to establish a new ecosystem based on his viruses, rebuilding Earth's biosphere was no simple task.

But that idea was dismissed. Chang Wei figured that such a virus-based planet might mutate into something incomprehensible by the time he returned.

"It's over!"

Alice and her team hadn't anticipated the Sahara Desert splitting in two. Fortunately, they were together at the time and far from the fissure.

Soon, it felt as if the Sahara Desert had been isolated from the world. Outside, the ground cracked under flames, turning into magma. The entire world became a fiery, molten wasteland, yet they remained unscathed.

The researchers ran around frantically, with some venturing out of the desert only to be instantly reduced to ashes. Such firsthand experiences earned their utmost respect—this was the spirit of true researchers!

Of course, they stopped other scientists from attempting similar reckless experiments.

Undoubtedly, the Sahara Desert had been protected by divine intervention. The extreme temperatures outside had no impact there. The flowing magma and sudden torrential rains generated massive amounts of steam. It was clear that the end of the world was over. The magma was cooling.
