EMMA
I sat in the car on my way home from work, so I decided to call my parents and catch up with them. I wasn't able to reach out to them last night.
"Hello, mum.." I didn't miss the loud breath of relief that followed immediately.
"Why are you just calling now? Did you know how worried I was? Do you know the regret I kept feeling because we were not buoyant enough to take care of our kids?
"What's wrong, Mom?" I asked, noticing the concern in her voice and worrying that I felt her voice.
"What went wrong? Where were you yesterday? Do you know how worried we were? Why would you just leave the pack without telling us anything?"
I sighed, I knew they were going to be so worried, but I refused to say a word to them because I knew this would be their reaction.
"Darling… I get that you are old enough now but you do know you are still my daughter right?" Dad asked and I could feel the pain in his voice.
"I am so sorry, I didn't want you all to get worried."
