Chapter 9 - Chapter 9 – The First Step Toward Power

Inside the dimly lit room, Adam sat on his bed, waiting. His mind was restless, his eyes locked onto his phone screen, tracking the courier's progress. Today was important. The package he had ordered had finally arrived.

As he waited, he continued reading about elephants—not just their biology but their mythology as well. The deeper he dug, the more he realized how deeply elephants had been woven into ancient legends. Creatures like Airavata, the multi-tusked celestial elephant, were said to possess divine strength, capable of shaking the heavens themselves. Adam couldn't help but smirk. If I can take even a fraction of that power…

A sharp notification sound broke his thoughts. The package had arrived.

He quickly made his way to the entrance, making sure his grandmother wasn't around. Once he retrieved the box, he didn't open it right away. Instead, he placed his hand on it, focusing his mind. A ripple of energy pulsed around him as the package vanished.

This was Mind Space, a strange ability he had recently discovered. At first, he had assumed it was part of his mind, a storage space that existed within his consciousness. But the more he used it, the more he realized—this wasn't just inside his head. It was something else entirely. Another dimension, accessible only through his thoughts. That's why he named it Mind Space.

Later that evening, he told his grandmother he would be leaving for the city for a day. She asked no questions, and Adam didn't offer any explanations. Once outside, he found an isolated spot and stepped into Mind Space.

The moment he entered, he saw his stored supplies—food, wooden utensils, and most importantly, the blood. He walked around the space, trying to notice any changes, but everything remained the same. Finally, he approached the red sphere.

No reaction.

Adam sighed. Not yet, huh?

He shook off the thought and turned his attention back to the task at hand. Using dry wood, he started a fire. He placed a large metal pot over the flames and poured the elephant blood inside. As the dark red liquid began to heat up, he prepared syringes, carefully filling them with the thick, boiling substance.

This was it. The moment of truth.

Taking a deep breath, Adam closed his eyes, clearing his mind. Then, without hesitation, he plunged the syringe into his chest, injecting the blood directly into his heart.

The effect was immediate.

A sharp, burning sensation shot through his veins, spreading like wildfire. His body stiffened, his muscles tensed as if they were being torn apart and rebuilt at the same time. Through his spirituality, he could see the foreign DNA traveling through his bloodstream. He focused, trying to guide it, to merge it with his own genetic code.

At first, the process was smooth. But then—resistance.

Only 10% of the DNA successfully integrated. His bones grew denser, his muscles thickened, but the majority of the elephant's power remained locked away.

Then, the pain hit.

A scream tore from his throat as he collapsed to the ground, rolling in agony. It was unbearable, like his entire body was being crushed under an invisible force. His vision blurred. His breathing became ragged. Then—darkness.

Four hours later, his eyes snapped open.

The first thing he felt was hunger. An unbearable, primal hunger. He grabbed the food he had stored earlier and devoured it. Even after eating everything, the hunger didn't completely fade, but it was manageable.

Once his mind cleared, he activated his spirituality again, focusing on the changes in his body. As his energy touched the modified DNA, he felt it react. His bones hardened even further, his muscles coiled with strength. He clenched his fists, feeling an overwhelming surge of power.

A slow grin spread across his face.

For the first time in his life, his body didn't feel weak. It felt powerful.

He stepped toward a massive boulder, one that had to weigh at least 300 kilograms. Placing his hands underneath it, he lifted.

The rock left the ground effortlessly.

Adam exhaled in shock—then laughed.

He threw the boulder, watching as it crashed ten meters away, shaking the ground. His heart pounded with excitement.

Next, he ran.

At first, he couldn't tell how fast he was moving. But as the wind roared in his ears and the ground blurred beneath him, he realized—he wasn't just fast. He was inhumanly fast. Maybe 30 times faster than an average human.

For the next thirty minutes, he tested his limits—how much strength to use when lifting, how much speed to apply while running. But then, suddenly—his power vanished.

A deep exhaustion hit him like a wave. His legs gave out, and he fell to his knees, gasping for breath.

He understood immediately.

Until he could integrate 31% of the elephant's DNA, he wouldn't be able to access 30% of its power in his base form. Right now, he had to use his spirituality to tap into it. But once his spiritual energy ran out—so did the power.

Lying on the ground, he started laughing again.

This was just the beginning.

And the future?

It was his to take.
