Chapter 28 - Vision of Death

Kalysta's Vision

I was pulled into a dark, cold room. It was disorienting at first. I reached out for something to hold onto. Despite being able to see in the dark this place was pitch black and I couldn't make out any shapes in the vast blackness.

As I stepped forward I realized I was barefoot and walking in about an inch of water. Looking down I couldn't see my reflection staring back at me. I saw nothing. Not myself, not the ripples of the water as I stepped forward. There was nothing. No sounds as I splashed the water with my feet as I took small steps. It was like waking up in a sensory deprivation chamber. I was blind and deaf.

I walked carefully with my arms stretched out in front of me before my fingers finally grazed against the side of a rough rocky feeling wall. I ran my fingers along it until I felt a crack in the wall, in which water was slowly trickling down into the room. No wonder the floor was so saturated.

I continued to move my hands along the wall. I felt a corner where the two walls met and started feeling my way along the adjacent side. My hands ran over a bump that felt wooden. I traced my fingers along the raised edge and realized it was a door. I felt down for the handle and tried the knob. It turned over with a noise that startled me, and I pushed the door open.

I now found myself in a dimly lit hallway that seemed to stretch on forever. At the end was a bright white light. I walked towards it while my feet splashed in the water. The further I went the further I felt I was from that light. I kept walking and walking, then running, but I never got closer.

I pressed my hand on the concrete wall. It never ends. I couldn't help but pant from exertion and my water logged feet throbbed. Panick was setting in until I heard two voices in the distance.

The voices belonged to two different men. I couldn't make out much more but it sounded like they may be arguing. I cautiously started walking to that blinding light again, and as I did the voices grew louder.

"Do you think there will be any forgiveness? NO! You don't! My family is dead to me."

"Kyrhen listen to reason....."

Running now. Jakob is here and so is Ky. I'm so close. I hear them arguing. This can't be good.

My feet penetrate into a stark white room. The hall behind me disappears and I am surrounded by white walls. The light has blurred my vision and stings my eyes. My feet no longer were wet, but still bare.

Trying so hard to focus I could see a fuzzy image of a man pacing back and forth while another was on his knees. "Stop this Kyrhen! Let him go!"

He did not hear me though.

"Everything was her fault. David is dead because of her. I was shunned because of her."

"You did this to yourself," Jakob said.

In his hands Kyrhen was flipping a blade in his hands. My eyes finally focus sharply on the instrument. Recognition hits me as I realize it's the one I had made from the antlers of a buck I killed. It was my first hunt. That blade is sentimental and now I know why I couldn't find it when I packed for our journey.

Kyrhen stopped tossing the knife in the air but now held it firmly in his hands. "Take Saline's deal or I'll kill you right here, right now.

NO! NO! NO! NO!

This can't possibly be our future! Can it?

No!

Jakob stared at Kyrhen. "You're too much of a coward to kill someone."

Jakob was shackled down on his knees. Unable to defend himself when Kyrhen skipped behind him and squatted down. He grasped Jake's hair and skid his mouth over Jakob's ear to say, "Are you sure about that?"

He sliced my blade through my husband's neck. Blood flowed quickly as Kyrhen shoved him forward onto the hard floor. Red stained the white flooring. Ky looked down on Jakob and said, "She took David from me so now I'm taking you from her." Jake couldn't respond. Gurgling came from his mouth as his eyes lost focus on my brother.

NO! NOOOOOO!!!!!

I ran at Kyrhen with my fists raised to attack him but as I slammed into his body I passed right through.

Looking back at him I screamed, "Damn you Kyrhen! If you actually do this I will never forgive you. I'll kill you myself!"

His form was walking away from me. I looked back at Jake's lifeless body. My heart lurched up into my throat at the sight of him on the floor surrounded in a puddle of his own blood.

Then I looked back at Ky who was exiting the room. I decided to follow him. My vision was continuing for a reason, maybe I need to see what he does next. As I walked behind Kyrhen I glared daggers at him. I used to want my brothers love and trust but he ended up betraying me in all the worst ways possible.

Kyrhen opened a door and walked into a small lounge. Sitting at a table was a man in a white suit with black leather gloves. A black serpent clung to him as he read a newspaper from over 75 years ago. "Did he agree to my terms?"

"No sir. Since he refused I ended him as you told me to. I was happy to do it."

The man in white looked up at my brother and smiled. "It seems I have a new heir to my thrown. You have done me well, son."

Shock racked through me as I heard none other than the CEO King call my brother son. All while his own son laid in the next room dead.

Jasin pushed a syringe full of a glowing purple liquid forward. "A little reward for you. I'm so proud of you."

I watched in horror as Ky picked up the syringe and plunged the needle into his eye, pushing the contents into his body. He dropped the needle and put his hands to his face as if in pain.

He shook his head a couple of times then looked back up at Saline. His eyes glowed Violet and his feature were more finely detailed. What is that stuff? My mind wandered. I've never seen it before.

In the next moment I was with Time. "This will come to pass unless you find Kyrhen before Saline does. Stop this from happening or Jakob will die. If you find Kyrhen before it's too late, old wounds will heal. So much has happened between you two. The path your twin takes depends heavily on the choices you make Kalysta."

I was thrown back into reality. Jakob held me protectively in his arms. Fear gripped me as I looked into his eyes. The image of him bleeding in the floor flashed into my mind.

I've gotta find Kyrhen! I can't fail!
