Chapter 14 - Planting potatoes

"I can't believe you didn't wake me up, Coco! You even bought potatoes! You could have just told me that you wanted some then I would have grown it for you!" Lala exclaimed, her cheeks puffed out and have her back turned on Coco.

She has been sulking since she woke up an hour ago. She felt betrayed and abandoned when she saw the sack of potatoes by Coco's side. She perched herself on the orange tree's branch and has been sitting there since she saw the potato sack.

The sun is already up and it's been hours since Coco started plowing a field for her potatoes.

Her handmade hoe is about to give out so she is just waiting for it to break. She watered the soils before burying the potatoes inside the patches. Weirdly enough, the soil is fertilized enough to grow plants planted by humans. L

Coco huffed, smiling at how adorable Lala looks when sulking "I wouldn't level up my skills if you keep growing me crops, you know? You can go ahead and grow some for me, but I still need to plant my own."

"But.. B.. B.. But—" Lala stammered before she started crying.

Her tears are big and streaming down her cheeks as she fly up to another near tree away from her human friend, hiding from Coco.

"Oh, dear.." She sighed out and wiped off the sweat dripping on her forehead with the back of her wrist.

She didn't expect for the fairy to be this upset and betrayed if she bought something from the market, but how else would she be able to use her [Green fingers] skill?

She heaved out a deep sigh before planting the last few potatoes. She didn't bury all the potatoes, she had read an article somewhere that potatoes with "eyes" can only be planted because it has the potential to have a sprout.

She really don't know much about plants, fruits, and vegetables, but she can't read anywhere else how to plant them. She also has a bad reputation in the village so she can't just walk up to someone and ask 'hey, can you tell me how to plant this kind of plant?' because she knows it wouldn't end well.

It sucks to be a trashy person. Coco thought as she let out a strained grunt, burying the potato with eye under a fertalized soil.

Since almost half of the sack didn't have the "eyes" she was talking about and looking for, she left them to the side to give to her husbands because they are petite, pale, and thin.

She's kind of worried that one of them would just fall to the floor all of sudden and faint due to how sickly they look.

Back in her world, people might look petite and thin, but at least she knew that they are eating well. However, those four? They are drowning in debt because of Coco and couldn't buy themselves something healthy to eat.

Hence why she's making it her task to bring home something to eat that can be the source of their nutrients.

Once she's done with the potatoes, she stood up from her crouching position and arched her back. Her bones let out satisfying cracks which made groan out in relief.

She knows that she's not that old yet, but her back is killing her after plowing a few patches for the potatoes. After stretching, she walked over to the river. She washed the dirt off from her hands and scrubbed her skin diligently.

She made sure to scrub her skin, picked under her fingernails go get rid of the dirt.

After washing, she looked around for the fairy. She stopped by the orange tree and picked two oranges before starting her mission to look for the adorable creature.

"Lalaaaaa!" She called out, pealing the skin off the fruit and eating a piece of orange.

She chewed the fruit and moaned at how juicy and delicious the citrus was. She continued eating while calling out for the fairy, she doesn't care if she's attracting the predators nearby. It's probably better because that means she can have meat as a meal if she's lucky.

Where did she go? Coco wondered as she looked around. She didn't sense the fairy's presence nearby and the said fairy aren't answering her calls.

She's not that worried though, the mountains can be dangerous, but surely, it won't be as dangerous to a fairy, right?

Instead of worrying for her adorable friendly fairy, Coco finished eating her oranges and approached the strawberries. She started chewing on some as she place the other ones into her clothes.

In the midst of picking strawberries, the cries of the fairy reached her ears. She stood up straight and waited for Lala to get closer since the cries started to get nearer.

She pushed a strawberry in her mouth and chewed. Lala came out of the bushes, big and fat tears rolling down her cheeks.

"Cocooo!" Lala wailed loudly and hid behind her head. She was sobbing and shaking as she embraced Coco's head tightly.

"Where were you?" Coco asked, voice muffled because of the strawberry.

"There's a tiger flying! It chased me! Waaahhh!" The fairy exclaimed, crying more big fat tears and rubbed her face on Coco's hair. It was evident that she was frightened and shook because she was shaking against her.

"A tiger is flying? As in the mammal?" Coco asked as she shoved another strawberry in her mouth. As if to answer her question, a familiar notification sound echoed in her mind then the usual scroll appeared before her eyes.
