Olivia exhaled loudly, tilting her head, her fingers drumming lightly on the table. "Remember those sleepovers we used to have when we were eleven?"
For a brief moment, a flicker of sadness crossed her eyes—nostalgia tugging at her features. She missed those days.
Sumaya nodded cautiously, but her lips pressed together, betraying her own ache for the past. Those nights had been some of the happiest in her life—before everything got complicated.
Olivia leaned in slightly. "Well, one night, you went to the kitchen to grab snacks. I was thirsty, so I followed you to ask for some water. But when I got there, I saw you trying to reach a jar of cookies on the top shelf."
She paused, lips curling at the memory. "You were being stubborn, standing on your toes, stretching as far as you could. And then, BAM." Olivia clapped her hands together, making Sumaya flinch. "The jar slipped. Shattered everywhere. And you—well, you weren't exactly graceful about it."
