Jae Won knew texting wouldn't be a good choice at this moment with Vincent sending him an angry emoji. So he called rather and the moment Vincent picked up the call Jae Won said "babe, don't be jealous. You know you are the only one that I want".
With that said, Vincent smiled and all his jealousy went up in the smoke like he wasn't the one angry seconds ago. Vincent parted his lips as if he wanted to say something but didn't.
"Babe, are you there?"'Jae Won asked expecting a response. "Yes, I am. What time will you be going home?" Vincent asked after waiting for a while so maybe he could picked him up on his way home.
"Why do you want to pick me up?.." Jae Won asked even though he already knew the answer. "Then I will be waiting for you" he continued. "Okay I will come pick you up when I close" Vincent said with his smiley face as he entered back to the office.
Emelia saw his face and knew something good had happened but she didn't ask since she was ignoring him.
The day went by with Jae Won still stuck on his phone while Charles was busy doing his rounds and meeting patients. Meanwhile, Emelia was still giving Vincent the cold shoulder.
Emelia was angry at what she saw and the fact that she hasn't gone on a trip with Vincent yet but here she was being ignored by someone she claimed to be in a relationship with.
Vincent on the other hand, has now come to terms with the fact that he likes Jae Won so Emelia ignoring him was the path to redemption. He wanted to come clean with her and this was the right time but he had to talk to his mother before that.
It was 5pm and the day was fruitful. Charles came back and was hoping he could send Jae Won back to his house so he could sleep over. He was not on night duty so he thought he could have some alone time with Jae Won.
He entered his office with all smiles when he saw Jae Won ready to go. "Uurm, I still have two hours left before I could go home" said by Charles, his heart already in pain seeing Jae Won about to leave.
Jae Won smiled at him, unaware with Charles's hurt feelings "Vincent would be picking me up so I'm just waiting for him" he said.
Charles who had now suffered the consequences of playing with fire suddenly regretted pushing Vincent's buttons. He shouldn't have teased Vincent which now has resulted to that.
"Okay, what time is he coming to pick you up?" Charles asked, his gaze further away from Jae Won. "Anytime from now on" Jae Won answered.
While Jae Won was waiting for Vincent to come pick him up, Vincent was busy arguing with Emelia. Why was he arguing with him?
Let's go back to thirty minutes before Charles entered his office. Working hours was over and Emelia was waiting for Vincent who was having a conversation with his dad.
After his dad came back from making inquiries about Jae Won's school, he hasn't had the time to ask what happened because he was busy.
Vincent only got time when they closed but his dad would be staying back to finish some work before he came home which Vincent joined him.
After a few minutes later, he came with smiles which Emelia asked "what have you been smiling about?". Vincent who was happy explained the conversation he had with his dad and after that, he said they were going to Charles's hospital to pick Jae Won up.
After he said that, images of Vincent kissing Jae Won's cheek flashes in her mind which ignited all the anger she had buried in her her.
"Why would you go pick him up when Charles could bring him" she asked, her voice laced with anger which Vincent realized.
"Just picking him up, how is that a problem?" Vincent asked. How you become defensive when you know you are already guilty of something. That's exactly how Vincent was behaving at that moment.
"It's not a problem but why do you want to do that. We are tired so let's just go home. Charles would bring home" Emelia said, her voice clearly showing no room for negotiations.
He had no other way than to text Jae Won about the change of plans which he didn't like a bit. The chance to get Jae Won out of Charles's way has gone out of the window.
Charles sitting on his chair looking through some documents which his mind was elsewhere suddenly heard the notification from Jae Won's phone and knew it was game over.
He raised his head just to confirm Vincent had arrived at the hospital so he could go with Jae Won but something was definitely wrong when his gaze fell on Jae Won's sad face.
"What's wrong?" Charles asked, lighting candle in the air if he could celebrate his victory.
After waiting for a while, Jae Won finally answered, "Uurm, Vincent said he couldn't come pick me up" his voice that of a child complaining about their missing candy.
Charles smiled but concealed his excitement away from Jae Won "no problem, I can take you home . How about you spend the night at my place?" He said trying his luck.
Unfortunately for him, Jae Won declined as he thought Vincent wouldn't like it if he does that and he was happy with Vincent at the moment.
"It's okay, just take me home. Maybe next time" Jae Won replied with his face clearly not all smiley. He laid down back at the couch waiting for Charles shift to end border he could go home but "maybe" rang continuously in Charles's head.
"Are you hungry? I can order some food for us if you are" Charles asked hoping to lift up his mood. Jae Won nodded in agreement. With no hesitation, Charles ordered food fit for three people with his phone as he came up with conversations with Jae Won which showed results because Jae Won was now in a good mood.
On the other hand, Vincent and Emelia had gotten home which the tension between them was so thick it could be cut with a knife.
"What's wrong with both of you" asked by Claudia who was about to go meet Isabella. But she was ignored by both of them so she had to mind her business. She left them to solve their issues.
They all entered their rooms as they wait for dinner. Dinner came by and they were having their dinner peacefully when they heard a car drove in and Vincent knew Jae Won was being dropped off.
He wanted to come out but had to maintain himself from doing that while Emelia's gaze was fixed on him. Jae Won who knew this time was dinner, invited him to come greet them but he denied with the excuse he was very tired at the moment and needed to rest which Jae Won didn't push again.
Jae Won entered as he greeted them and sat with them even though he wasn't eating. That's when Mr Jonathan announced Jae Won would be starting next month. He had ways for Jae Won to start even though he had no identification and papers.
They were all happy as they finished their dinner and they entered their rooms to have their moment. Mrs Gladys pulled Vincent away with the look of curiosity.
Vincent had forgotten because of the jealousy he was going through at that moment and wanted to speak to Jae Won. But he had to put that aside for the mean time as he and Mrs Gladys went to sit on the couch in the living room.
"So what did you wanted to tell me?" She asked with a perked up ears ready to listen. The moment Vincent said he wanted to have a conversation with her, she had been curious imagining every scenario in her mind.
She even thought he had impregnated a woman and was kind of happy to have her first grandchild but soon that thought vanished. Because Vincent had been single for some time now and that was not going to happen if he doesn't have a girlfriend.
"So what could be the problem?" She asked herself waiting for the time to go by faster so she could have this conversation with her baby.
After waiting for a while without any response, she cleared her throat to bring back her son's attention to the living room. "What is it?" She asked now genuinely concerned for her son.
"Mum what do you expect my love life could be?" he asked. Mrs Gladys who didn't expect such a question was stunned and had to wait till she answered.
"Well baby, all I want is for you to be happy with your life. Your father and I didn't want to take your happiness for granted that is why he had worked hard to sustain the company so you wouldn't have to marry because of it was to save the company but to choose from your heart like how it happened between your father and I" she answered.
Vincent sat quietly for a while thinking about a whole lot of things "what if it's not what you and daddy expected?" Vincent asked.
Mrs Gladys, "….."
