Mahiru hurried away from the café, her face still burning from Anna's words.
Why does she have to be like that? she thought, pressing her hands against her cheeks to cool herself down. I just wanted to see Sam… not walk into a trap.
As she paced down the street, lost in thought, she heard a familiar voice behind her.
"Mahiru?"
She froze.
Turning around slowly, she saw Sam standing there, a confused expression on his face.
"Oh… Sam," she said, trying to act normal. "What are you doing here?"
"I should be asking you that," he replied. "I thought you were coming to the café?"
Mahiru hesitated. "Uhh… well… I was going to, but then I remembered I had something to do, so—"
"Liar," another voice cut in.
Mahiru stiffened as Anna casually walked up next to Sam, sipping on her milkshake with a smug look.
"You totally heard us talking, didn't you?" Anna smirked.
Mahiru flinched. I'm doomed.
Sam glanced between them. "Wait… you were outside?"
Mahiru, now cornered, sighed in defeat. "...Yes."
Anna let out a victorious laugh. "So you did hear me ask Sam if you two kissed yet!"
Mahiru's face turned bright red. "A-Anna!!"
Sam's entire body tensed. "W-WHY ARE YOU BRINGING THAT UP AGAIN?!"
Anna crossed her arms with a proud grin. "Hey, it's an important question! The two of you are all lovey-dovey, but I haven't seen any progress! I have to make sure my big brother isn't a coward."
Mahiru, unable to take the teasing anymore, grabbed Sam's hand. "W-We're leaving!"
Sam, still flustered, barely had time to react before Mahiru started pulling him away.
"H-Hey! Where are we even going?!"
"Anywhere that isn't here!"
Anna waved at them with a satisfied smile. "Have fun on your date!"
Mahiru groaned in embarrassment, while Sam just sighed.
His little sister really was the biggest troublemaker in his life.
