Fel spared a slight glance toward Fi and Yarrow, the former of which had finally finished admonishing the Godsborn that had touched Ash, "He's real lucky Fi stepped in, you know. If he'd have kept that up he was likely to earn himself a divine sanction."
Ash remembered them, it was when one went too far against the teachings of their god. If repeated enough times any protections the god granted would be revoked. She wondered how it would function for a Godsborn but decided not to ask. She had no intent to find out by earning one herself, after all.
Fel released her as Fi approached, sliding into place at her side with a small smile, "Did you have fun, Fi?"
Fi grumbled slightly, something that sounded like, "Stop teasing me."
Yarrow looked at the both of them, asking the question on Ash's mind, "What brings the two of you here?"
One answered quests while the other mentioned concern about Ash. With a glance they exchanged answers while Yarrow sighed heavily. It seemed like he was used to such things from them. He told them he had things well under control, mentioning that their stop to eat had taken quite a while and they'd gone to take care of the matter of a focus for Ash right after. The two nodded and headed off in the direction of the temple, walking close together though it seemed like Fi was back to short answers once again.
"Those two are always like that," he grumbled with a roll of his eyes as he grabbed his flask and took a drink, scowling as he realized that once more Ash had been without drink for a while. Eyes casting around, he found a merchant's stand that promised a different kind of juice to drink and pointed it out for her, "I'll meet you at the Adventurer's Guild," he motioned towards where it stood not so far away, "I'll be right out front so I can keep an eye on things out here."
Ash got in line, waiting patiently until she felt someone familiar approaching. It was a bit hard to do so within a city, very different from the confines of her home where an approaching person's magic stood out to her like a beacon. Considering it was the man from earlier, she decided that ignoring him was the best approach to the situation. He'd been admonished and she had no doubt that the sanctions had been explained to those like himself that didn't seem to be regular followers of a god.
"Princess," he said, his tone holding a bit of aggravation as his hand fell on her shoulder and he leaned in until his lips very nearly brushed her ear, "I would have thought that a god discouraged someone as pretty as you from sleeping with everything that moves."
She was about to speak, to inform him that she wasn't sleeping with anyone and that Sidus wouldn't care if she had been, but something strange happened. Her vision wavered for just a moment and she suddenly seemed unable to control her own body.
"Now then, Princess," his voice sounded smug, "I think you should join me on a quest outside of this backwater city. I'd be delighted to teach you everything I know."
She railed against the status effect, mentally snarling and tearing at what she knew to be magic that didn't belong to her. Normally she was immune to being charmed or otherwise coerced with magic. Far too late, she realized there was a reason she was supposed to have Luri be the one to cut her horns and stay with her afterwards, that it wasn't just because it was the priestess' responsibility to do what Ash could not. Ash's main horn was what gave her the immunity and it was unlikely someone would be able to control them both considering Luri could easily dispel such effects.
She hadn't even turned to follow him when the air around them became suffocating and everything seemed to come to a stop. She recognized it as a Divine Sanction, having seen them happen even if she'd never been a target before and wasn't at the moment.
Her certainty of not being a target wavered just as her consciousness seemed to be doing under the Charm effect as suffocating power wound its way around her. Sidus always took great care in how he handled her and how his magic interacted with her. This god, whoever it was, did no such thing. Despite feeling as if she could barely draw breath she felt no animosity, no disappointment, just idle curiosity as magic crackled around her.
The power probed her own as it twined tighter around her. It seemed to be growing frustrated until, suddenly, she was standing alone on the street. Knowing it to be an illusion within her mind, she didn't panic and instead waited for whichever god had taken interest in her to show themselves.
Arms wrapped around her shoulders as the god draped themselves in a loose and far too familiar embrace around her. A deep breath followed, as if they were taking in Ash's scent, "My but you're an interesting one," his voice all but purred, "Such strong defenses against my intrusion and they're your own, not placed upon you," another breath followed, as if savoring her scent, "You also smell like divinity."
The god's magic was still probing her own, looking at and searching everything that she was. Considering how invasive the search was, he likely knew her to be a Starborn Unicorn already but was looking for something else. She felt the moment he found it as pain flared to life in every single crack that ran through her magic at once. She wanted to scream, to fight, to run but had the power to do none of it when faced with a god.
"Mmm," he sounded far more interested than he had before and the pain faded swiftly though she still felt his magic twined around whatever he had touched to cause it, "You are very interesting indeed. Perhaps we can come to an agreement."
