"I wasn't born in this pack," Augustus said.
Alexis's eyes went slightly wide. How come? If he wasn't, then why was he here? Wolves from other packs had never been allowed to join another pack, so how come?
"I used to belong to a different pack, where I was born, but after my family was accused of something they didn't do, something I still don't believe they did, the alpha had them killed. As for me, I managed to run with my sister, but they still went after me and I lost my sister eventually. I don't know if she's still alive or if they kill her."
There was a pause and he breathed.
"I'd been really wounded and of course they were going to kill me. Keelion Fane saved me. He didn't know me, I meant nothing to him, but he saved me, he was willing to kill wolves of another pack and brought me here with him. It's been my job since then to look out for his life, I didn't care and don't care whether he needed it or not."
