Elias remained in place for a moment, his posture composed as he watched Sephrah and Adrian disappear beyond the hall. Only when the faint sound of their footsteps faded entirely did he exhale.
He turned toward one of the nearby servants, his tone even. "Is the Master still in his study?"
The servant hesitated slightly before bowing his head. "No master has left the estate."
Elias's fingers curled slightly at his side.
Left?
Cassius left without informing him? If he had gone somewhere without notice, it meant one of two things—either he hadn't wanted to be found, or he had left in frustration after the conversation with Adrian.
Neither possibility sat well with Elias.
But it wasn't his place to question it.
He merely gave a curt nod before dismissing the servant. "I see. Thank you."
The young maid glanced around before leaning in slightly, lowering her voice.
