Luther's expression darkened. His fists curled at his sides, the veins in his arms standing out. "And you think I wanted it?"
"You fought for it," Cassius spat. "You stayed didn't you."
A flicker of something dangerous passed through Luther's gaze before he lunged.
Cassius barely had time to raise his arms before Luther's fist slammed into his ribs, knocking the air from his lungs. Pain splintered through his side, but he didn't retreat. Instead, he struck back, driving his elbow into Luther's shoulder, forcing him off balance.
Luther twisted, recovering fast. His knee came up, connecting with Cassius's gut.
Cassius gritted his teeth, ignoring the sharp burn spreading through his torso. He drove his head forward, smashing it against Luther's, sending both of them staggering apart. Blood streamed down his face now, hot and wet, but he barely felt it.
