Chapter 25
July started with a light and sunny atmosphere in Los Angeles. Kendall and Mike were becoming increasingly close, sharing laughs and deep conversations that went beyond the superficial. The laid-back vibe of the city reflected in the way they related to each other, and they were both enjoying the new friendship that was blossoming.
On a warm afternoon, while relaxing in the garden of Hailey and Justin's house, Kendall decided to bring up a subject that had been on her mind for some time.
"Did you know that my family is super curious to meet you?" she asked, watching Mike's expression.
He arched an eyebrow, a smile playing on his lips. "Really? I thought they were too busy for that."
"Yeah, they are busy, but that doesn't stop them from asking questions about you!" Kendall laughed. "Especially after the Calvin Klein campaign. My sisters and mom can't stop talking about you."
Mike leaned back in his chair, a mix of nervousness and amusement in his eyes. "And what do they have to say?"
"Oh, you know, typical stuff," she replied, mimicking her sisters' tone. "'When are we going to meet the hot Navy SEAL?' and 'He needs to come to dinner!' It's been crazy," Kendall said, rolling her eyes but with a smile on her face.
"This all seems a little intense," Mike commented, trying to keep it light. "I'm nothing special, just an ex-military guy who stumbled into the modeling world by accident."
"That's where you're wrong! You are very special. And the scars, your story, it all makes you fascinating," Kendall stated, her voice carrying sincerity. "My family loves people with life stories, and you have the most impressive one."
"Well, maybe I should get ready for dinner with the Kardashian-Jenner family then," he joked, grimacing. "I'm going to have to do my best not to look like a fish out of water."
"You'll do great!" Kendall encouraged. "And don't worry, my family is super welcoming. As soon as you walk in, everyone will be smiling and asking you questions about your life. They love hearing stories!"
"I hope I have enough good stories to impress them," Mike replied, chuckling nervously.
"Trust me, you've already impressed a lot of people just by being who you are," Kendall said, patting his arm encouragingly. "And that's not counting how amazing you look in photos."
Mike looked at her, a little surprised. "Thanks, Kendall. That means a lot to me. I'm really not used to this kind of attention."
"You'll get used to it. And who knows, it might just become a new part of your life," Kendall said, winking. "After all, you've become a model. Why not be part of my family too?"
They exchanged smiles, and the chemistry between them was undeniable. Kendall felt like she had found a true friend in Mike, someone who not only shared her interests, but who also made her feel comfortable and protected.
"So, how about dinner sometime soon?" Mike suggested, a twinkle in his eye. "Be my guide as I introduce you to your family."
"Sure! I'll organize everything," she replied, already excited about the idea. "I think you'll love meeting them."
With the sun setting in the background, their conversation flowed naturally, filled with laughter and promises of a closer future. Mike was feeling more at ease, and the prospect of meeting the Kardashian-Jenner family seemed less daunting with Kendall by his side.
Chapter 26
It was a sunny day in Los Angeles when Mike arrived at Kendall's house to pick her up. He was a little nervous, but excited at the thought of finally meeting the matriarch of the Kardashian-Jenner family and her sisters.
As he parked the car, he did a quick check in the rearview mirror, adjusting his shirt before getting out.
Kendall greeted him at the door with a beaming smile. "Ready to meet my family?" she asked, her eyes shining with excitement.
"Okay, I hope they're not as intimidating as they say," Mike replied, trying to keep it light.
"You're going to do great. Let's go!" she exclaimed, pulling him into the car.
When they arrived at Kris Jenner's house, Mike felt a mix of anxiety and anticipation. As soon as they walked in, they were greeted by Kim, Kourtney, Kylie, and Khloé, all gathered in the living room.
"Look who's here!" Kim said, her eyes lighting up when she saw Mike. "Hey, hottie!"
Kourtney made a playful face. "Are you real? You're not a hologram, you're so handsome!"
"Come on, he's just a regular guy," Mike replied, trying to remain humble, but an involuntary smile appeared on his face.
Khloé laughed. "A regular guy who has muscles and scars that make anyone else look like a wimp. Who are you trying to kid?"
Kylie walked over, examining Mike with an appraising gaze. "You do realize you could be a crush on a lot of people here, right? Kendall, you need to take care of this treasure."
"Okay, okay, that's enough," Kendall said, a little embarrassed, but laughing along. "Let's go to lunch before they decide he should stay here forever!"
During lunch, Kris was interested in learning more about Mike's career. "So, Michael, can you tell us about your experiences in the Navy? What did you do around the world?"
Mike, now more relaxed, began to share some stories from his missions. "Well, I was part of SEAL Team Three and then DEVGRU. I had the opportunity to operate in various places, such as the Middle East and even Asia. Each mission brought its own challenges."
The sisters were fascinated, some with their mouths open, as he talked about the camaraderie between the SEALs and the operations he participated in. He described, without going into too much detail, the adrenaline of the missions and the importance of teamwork.
Kendall looked at him with admiration, feeling proud of her cousin. "That's amazing! I always knew you had an amazing story."
After a lunch filled with laughter and stories, Mike said goodbye to the family. When he left, the sisters were chatting among themselves.
"He's so calm and elegant, isn't he?" Kim commented. "Kendall, you could date him instead of Bad Bunny. Imagine that!"
"That's true! He seems like an amazing guy," Kourtney added, winking at Kendall.
"No, guys! Bad Bunny is my boyfriend!" Kendall replied, clearly irritated. "He's a great guy, and I'm not trading that for some ex-military guy!"
Khloé smiled, trying to contain her laughter. "But Kendall, just think about how cool Mike is. You can't deny that he's perfect."
"Yeah, he's cool, but that doesn't change the fact that I'm happy with Bad Bunny," Kendall insisted, crossing her arms. "And you guys need to stop trying to convince me!"
The sisters continued to joke around, making comments about how Mike could be the new "prince" of the family, while Kendall rolled her eyes but couldn't help but smile at the lighthearted energy in the air.
Meanwhile, Mike drove home, reflecting on the encounter. He felt relieved and happy that he had impressed Kendall's family. The idea of being accepted into such a famous and fun circle was new, but exciting. At the thought of his new bonds and possibilities, he smiled, looking forward to what the future might bring.
Chapter 27
The atmosphere in Los Angeles was electric, especially for Mike, who was about to have an unexpected encounter. Gigi, his friend and one of the most iconic models in the world, had suggested he accompany her to a Versace event.
"You have to meet Donatella," she said enthusiastically. "She's going to love you!"
Mike was excited, but also a little nervous. He never imagined his life would turn out this way, and the idea of meeting someone like Donatella Versace was a mix of honor and anxiety.
When they arrived at the event, the atmosphere was full of glamour and style. The lights were bright, and celebrities were milling about the venue. Gigi pulled Mike to the center of the room, where Donatella was chatting with a few guests.
"Donatella!" Gigi called, waving. "I need you to meet someone special."
The designer turned, her eyes lighting up when she saw Gigi. "Honey, always a surprise with you! Who's your friend?"
"This is Mike, Hailey Bieber's cousin. He has an incredible story and an even more impressive presence," Gigi replied proudly.
Donatella extended her hand and smiled. "It's nice to meet you, Mike. You seem like you have something special. Have you ever thought about modeling?"
Mike was taken aback by the question. "Me, modeling? I've never really thought about it," he admitted, his nerves growing.
"You should! I'd love to see you on the runway," Donatella insisted. "You have the poise and the attitude. Let's do this!"
Gigi watched the exchange with a smile. "I can see Donatella is already convinced. And don't worry, Mike, I'll be there to help you through everything. You're not going to do this alone."
Mike felt a mix of apprehension and excitement. "I don't know… This is so out of my comfort zone."
"But it's a great opportunity! Think of it as a new adventure," Gigi said, trying to encourage him. "And who better to help you than me? You'll do great, trust me."
Donatella smiled, noticing Mike's hesitation. "Look, my dear, the fashion world is as fun as you make it. And with Gigi by your side, you'll have all the guidance you need."
He took a deep breath, considering the proposal. It was a chance to stand out in a whole new way. "Okay, I'll try. But if I look like a fish out of water, you have to promise not to laugh!"
"I promise! Just follow my example," Gigi said, winking. "And who knows? This could be the beginning of a new phase in your life."
As the conversation continued, Mike began to feel a surge of excitement. He was about to embark on an experience he had never imagined, and Gigi and Donatella's support made it all easier.
The night wore on, and Mike realized that the doors that opened for him were vast and full of possibilities. He was feeling more comfortable in his new role and ready to take on whatever came next, even if it meant walking down a runway for the first time.
