"Dear Alyssa, could you please go downstairs to the pantry and get the vegetables?" My mother speaks to me.
"Okay, mom, I'm on it." I get up from the table and rush downstairs to where the vegetables are.
"Mom, which vegetables do I need to get?" I ask, looking at the various vegetables in the crate. There are so many, and since I'm only 13, it's hard for me to carry them all, and I don't have the strength to carry the whole crate.
"Two tomatoes and a carrot," she yells from upstairs. I grab the produce and start to bring them up.
"Hey, daughter, what's for dinner tonight?" My dad enters through the door, seeing me come out of the downstairs area, which is like a small basement used as a pantry.
"Daddy! It's going to be a stew!" I say excitedly to him. He gives me a kind smile as he sets down the ax by the door, and I see the firewood he brought from the nearby forest.
