"Vanessa, show Alvin to his room. I am going to sleep." Saying this, Elara took the Y-shaped stairs connecting to the upper floor and disappeared from their sight.
Vanessa picked up the empty plates from the table and took them to the kitchen.
Alvin sat there in the empty dining hall and could not help but wonder, 'That one encounter, it shook me like this. What will I even do when I face real danger to my life one day?'
Just that thought alone gave him dark feelings; despair and coldness seeped into his bones just like the time when he was so close to dying in the restaurant.
'No! I need to get stronger; I have to find a way to survive!'
Alvin clenched his hands so tight that his knuckles turned white. His eyes shone with an eerie red color, reflecting his newfound determination.
By the time Vanessa returned, he had returned to normal, showing no signs of anxiety or dismay.
"Are you ready?" She asked with a polite smile, "Let me take you to your room."
