Crunch!
"Huff! Huff!" In an eerie, dark forest where even the flowing air made ghastly sounds, a person could be seen running with all of their power.
The young man ran as fast as he could; his footsteps never slowed down even when the person was on the verge of exhaustion. He just kept running ahead as if someone or something was after him.
He had been running barefoot so he could feel the coldness creeping in on his feet. The soil and grass patches he was running on became more damp and moist the longer he ran, as if the earth itself wanted to drag him down to the ground.
And then, he heard it.
A faint whisper, raspy and wet, was carried along with the wind.
These whispers overlapped, making it difficult for someone to understand them, but the boy knew that they were calling his name in drawn-out syllables dripping with allure.
"Alvinnn…"
The voice spoke with so much familiarity that Alvin instinctively looked back, and a chill ran down his body, his face painted with fear.
