After a long and enjoyable night with the girls, Nuxsus awoke feeling refreshed. Stretching his muscles, he made his way into the living room of his current hideout. The Justice League was searching for him harder than ever, which meant it was time to relocate. Staying in one place for too long was a mistake he had no intention of making. He needed a better, more secure base of operations—one that wouldn't be so easily compromised.
As he mulled over his next move, a familiar presence emerged behind him.
"I think it's time we play big," a mischievous voice purred.
Nuxsus turned, expecting to see the buzzing, seductive form of Chaos hovering around as usual. Instead, he found himself looking down—way down. His brow raised as his gaze met the small figure staring up at him.
"Oh? So you've grown again, huh? That's interesting…" Nuxsus mused, crossing his arms. "When did that happen?"
Chaos, now standing at 120 cm tall, smirked playfully. "What? Don't I look cute?"
"Hmm… You do," he admitted before narrowing his eyes. "But I'm not so sure I like thinking that way while you're in that body."
Chaos's smirk widened. "Oh? Are you shy? You can treat me as your little daughter if you'd like."
"Meh. Not now, not ever," Nuxsus replied flatly, shaking his head.
Unfazed, Chaos twirled a lock of her hair and got back on track. "Anyway… the rate at which you're spreading chaos is perfect. Your enemies are already considering alliances just to stop you. Unjust deaths have skyrocketed ever since your last little 'performance.' The world is spiraling into paranoia, disorder is rising… Ohhh," she sighed, practically shivering in excitement. "It's truly getting interesting."
Nuxsus leaned back against the wall, considering her words. "So, what did you mean by 'go big'?"
Chaos grinned, her crimson eyes gleaming. "Simple. You have an army now, but it's time to expand. You need more than just pawns—you need generals. You need an army of the strongest, most loyal, most chaotic warriors at your command. People who will spread chaos for you, even when you're not there."
The idea had merit. A vast network of operatives, an underground force that could move in the shadows and strike at the heart of order whenever he willed it. He nodded slightly, letting the thought settle.
But first, he needed connections.
Heading to the kitchen, he found Harley Quinn rummaging through the fridge, dressed in nothing but her panties as she grabbed a beer. With a smirk, he strolled over and delivered a sharp slap to her ass, making her yelp.
"I need your help," he said casually.
Harley turned, wiggling her hips playfully. "Ooooh, another round?" she teased.
Nuxsus chuckled but shook his head. "Not this time. It's work. I need connections—people who can link me to the right villains. I'm looking for specific types."
Harley's eyes lit up with excitement. "Ohhh, gotcha! Gimme a sec!" She dashed off and returned moments later with an old, tattered notebook. "Here! Mistah J called this his 'Useful Connections List'—but he never really used it. I think he got banned or somethin'? I dunno."
Flipping through the pages, she began listing names while jotting them down on paper.
"The Calculator." Harley tapped the name. "If ya want someone to hook you up with villains, play Oracle for ya? He's the guy. No one knows the underground network better than him."
"The Broker." She grinned. "You need a hideout that's perfect? A place no one can touch? This guy finds safehouses so hidden, not even Batman could sniff 'em out."
"Warp." She twirled the pen. "He's your guy for transportation. You wanna go anywhere, anytime? He'll zap ya there—for a price, of course."
"Underworld." Harley giggled at the name. "No, not a place—a guy. If you need real info on people, he's the one to see. He knows everything about everyone worth knowing."
She leaned back, tapping the pen against her lips. "That's all I got off the top of my head. There's more, obviously, but ya need either The Calculator or Underworld to connect you to 'em."
Nuxsus looked over the names, satisfied for now. This was a start—but he'd need much more than this.
"Alright then," he said, folding the paper and tucking it into his coat. "Set us up a meeting. We're paying The Calculator a visit."
....
The Calculator was an enigmatic figure—paranoid, meticulous, and always one step ahead. He had to be. Knowing too much in their world was a death sentence, and he wasn't about to make himself an easy target. Getting to him required patience and precision, as he had a strict process for contact.
Step one: Leave a message in a designated dropbox at a specified location.Step two: Wait exactly one day to receive a response with a meeting time and place.
"Well?" Nuxsus prompted, arms crossed as he glanced at Harley.
With a playful grin, she handed him a slip of paper. "Here ya go, Mastah N!"
Nuxsus cringed. "Ugh... Don't call me that." Taking the note, he scanned the address before exhaling in annoyance. "He's so damn paranoid. Do we really have to go through all of this?"
Raven, standing nearby, spoke up in her usual monotone. "I'm already set up for tracking."
"Good." Nuxsus nodded. "Darius and the rest will follow you from a distance. I'll take Artoria and Harley to the meeting."
....
After a while, Nuxsus arrived at an abandoned warehouse—the supposed meeting point. The building was eerily silent, not a single soul in sight. No welcoming party, no obvious security.
"This is rude," Nuxsus muttered, stepping inside.
Then, without warning, the floor beneath them shifted. Metal panels groaned as a hidden stairway revealed itself.
"Oooh, that's so neat! Can we get one of those for our warehouse, Nuxsus?" Harley gushed, bouncing on her heels.
"It is an effective way to keep intruders out," Artoria admitted, studying the mechanism.
"Sure, sure," Nuxsus waved a hand dismissively. "Let's deal with the weirdo first."
Descending the stairs, they found themselves in a dimly lit corridor. As soon as Nuxsus stepped forward, the stairs retracted behind him, sealing off their exit.
A locked chamber. One way in, no way out.
A TV flickered to life in the center of the room, static crackling before revealing a grinning man on the screen.
"NUXSUS VALTIERI!" The Calculator's voice boomed with exaggerated enthusiasm. "What an honor! The infamous Lord of Chaos himself… coming to me?! Oh, I'm flattered, really!"
Nuxsus rolled his eyes. "Get to the point."
The Calculator sighed dramatically. "Ah, but you see… we have a small problem. There's a massive bounty on your head, my friend—one that so many people are just dying to collect." His grin widened. "And I do have a business to run. Can't keep the operation afloat without a steady cash flow, you understand."
"So what?" Nuxsus exhaled, already unimpressed. "You really think you can take me down?"
The Calculator let out an amused chuckle. "Oh, me? Absolutely not! I'm not an idiot!" His voice turned smug. "But that poison though..."
A hiss filled the air.
Nuxsus glanced down as a sickly green gas seeped from the vents, slowly filling the room.
