Chapter 122 - Chapter 122: Li Tianming Questions

Qin Siyang returned to the principal's office. It was already midnight.

He wanted to lie down and rest, but he felt something pressing against his head, causing a dull pain.

He touched it and realized that he hadn't dried his hair properly after showering before heading out. The cold weather outside had frozen the water in his hair into tiny ice shards.

Although his Sequence ability-enhanced body wouldn't catch a cold, he couldn't be sure if his hair was strong enough to withstand this.

If he didn't take care of it, he might go bald before he even became an unbeatable powerhouse.

Qin Siyang got up and went to the bathroom for another shower, thoroughly drying his hair this time. Then, he set an alarm for 9 AM on his phone before getting into bed.

"Another exhausting day..."

Qin Siyang fell into a deep sleep.

.

.

.

As expected, the next morning, he was woken up by the alarm.

He got up, washed up, and glanced at the calendar on the wall.

[Blue Star Calendar, January 30, 2010]

[Western Calendar, Saturday.]

[Lunar Calendar, Ji-Chou Year, Twelfth Month, Sixteenth Day. Auspicious for repairing walls and fences.]

"It's Saturday. Didn't Zhou Xing say he'd recieve the Sequence potion today?"

Yesterday's leftovers were already cold, but that didn't stop him from eating them.

He had great confidence in his stomach and wasn't worried about catching a cold or getting an upset stomach.

If he could digest divine remains, what was a bit of cold food?

After eating, he turned on Li Tianming's computer and browsed the Sequence Education forum, checking the rankings of various Sequence universities.

As noon approached, his phone suddenly rang.

"Hello? Uncle Zhou? Yeah, I'm at school. You're here already? Just tell the security guard, they'll let you in. I'm in the principal's office."

Qin Siyang opened the box containing the Sequence potions and counted out six bottles.

A knock sounded at the door.

"Come in."

The door was pushed open, and Zhou Xing walked in, dressed in a formal suit with his signature black-rimmed glasses.

Qin Siyang didn't waste words and pointed at the six glass bottles on the desk, filled with a light blue liquid.

"Uncle Zhou, these are the Sequence potions I promised you. Our deal is complete."

Zhou Xing walked over, put the six bottles into his pocket, and looked at Qin Siyang with a conflicted expression.

Qin Siyang glanced up at him and smiled slightly. "What's wrong, Uncle Zhou? Do you have something else to say?"

"You were already bold for killing Zhou Yang, who was still a student. But I didn't expect you to go even further and kill a cop!"

"Uncle Zhou, don't say things carelessly. When Zhou Yang and that cop died, I was already back at school. This has nothing to do with me."

Zhou Xing frowned, looking unconvinced.

Qin Siyang shrugged and propped his feet up on the desk, "Inspector Olov has already investigated and confirmed that I had nothing to do with this. As for who the real culprit is, that's still under investigation. If you're curious, you can go ask the police."

"It really wasn't you?"

Qin Siyang raised an eyebrow, looking rather disdainful, "Am I an idiot? Just to kill Zhou Yang, I'd also take the risk of killing a cop? Who the hell is Zhou Yang to me? Why would I take such a huge gamble for him?"

Zhou Xing observed Qin Siyang closely. He didn't seem like he was lying, so he nodded slightly, "Yeah, I found it strange too. You're obviously smart, why would you do something so reckless? But aside from you, who else would want Zhou Yang dead? And the fact that the cop tailing him was also killed, it's obvious a Sequence ability user was involved."

"Who knows? You're asking me, but who am I supposed to ask?"

Zhou Xing sighed, "Honestly, when the police called me about this yesterday, I was scared out of my mind. I thought you did it as a warning to me, telling me not to act rashly."

Qin Siyang chuckled, "Uncle Zhou, even though I'm the younger one here, since our transaction went so smoothly, I'll give you some advice."

Zhou Xing looked at him with curiosity.

"You're cautious when you shouldn't be, and reckless when you should be careful."

"That's an easy way to miss opportunities and get yourself into trouble."

Zhou Xing narrowed his eyes but said nothing.

"Alright, Uncle Zhou, if there's no other deal, I've got my own things to take care of."

"Goodbye."

"Not seeing you out."

Zhou Xing walked out, his footsteps noticeably heavier than when he entered, filled with dissatisfaction and protest.

But Qin Siyang couldn't be bothered to care.

As far as he was concerned, this was his last meeting and conversation with Zhou Xing.

It was better to focus on the special admission matter.

Even researching information could be tiring, so he balanced work and rest. Occasionally, he opened up the video files stored on Li Tianming's computer to review them.

"Tsk, Old Li really doesn't hold back with his tastes."

.

.

.

Time passed unknowingly, and night fell.

As he lounged back in the principal's chair, legs crossed, watching a video on full volume, the door suddenly burst open.

Qin Siyang jolted in surprise.

Li Tianming stormed in, ready to complain, "Xiao Qin, yesterday I was with Chen—what the hell are you watching?" [T/N: 'Xiao' is an affectionate prefix that often means 'Little']

"Misunderstanding! Total misunderstanding!"

"You little brat! I was out there cleaning up your mess, and you're here snooping through my hard drive?"

Cold sweat formed on Qin Siyang's forehead. Worse yet, his grip on the mouse slipped, and he accidentally crushed it.

An awkward cracking sound echoed in the office.

Hurriedly, he pressed the shutdown button on the PC, "I swear I didn't mean to. I was just... curious!"

"With your habit of peeking at things, you're gonna get an eye infection one day."

Qin Siyang chuckled and placed ten bottles of Sequence potions in front of Li Tianming.

"Come on, Old Li, we're close, aren't we? It's just a little peek. What's the big deal?"

Li Tianming grabbed the ten potions, his expression easing a little.

Sensing the shift, Qin Siyang pushed further, "Old Li, I checked my Hunter God ranking, and I'm only in the 200,000s. If I want a guaranteed spot in special admissions, I need to go outside the safe zone and score big. Can you be my Insurer?"

Li Tianming didn't answer immediately. He took one of the Sequence potions, drank it in one go, poured some water into the empty bottle, swirled it around, and drank it again.

"Qin Siyang, there's something I need to say."

Hearing his full name instead of "Xiao Qin" or "Student Qin" made Qin Siyang tense up.

"Go ahead."

"I acted as your Insurer, helped you get points, and assisted with the special admission process. That means I've fulfilled my promise, right?"

"Of course, Old Li! You're the best!"

"On top of that, I handled Chen Fenghe for you. Even though I got paid for it, if it were anyone else, I wouldn't have gotten involved at all. You understand that, right?"

"Of course! Old Li, you're solid."

"Then, what about my request?"

Li Tianming scrutinized Qin Siyang, "I did all this not for some silver coins or Sequence potions. Where's the Deceiver you promised to find for me?"
