"So, Raizel, do you mind explaining what just happened when you were fighting the Fire-Spitting Cactuses?" Kierra asked with a intriguing smile, just as they crossed the entrance they had created.
Her eyes were sharp, watching every reaction on Raizel's face as if trying to see through his secrets.
But to her disappointment, Victor remained calm. Not a hint of panic could be seen on his face.
He had already anticipated the question, so he wasn't deterred in the slightest.
Casting a sidelong glance at Kierra, he explained calmly, "I have an Innate Spell that allows me to disable magic within a certain range. That's why I was confident enough to defeat those plant monsters. Does that answer your question?"
Victor observed her carefully, trying to gauge whether she was impressed, skeptical, or secretly plotting something inside.
Kierra looked shocked as she processed his statement.
'An Innate Spell that could disable magic? That was no ordinary spell.'
It was something extraordinary.
She had a little hunch that he was a special individual when the first time she noticed him in a battered yet formidable state. Now that hunch was slowly becoming true.
He was special—a little.
Though his spell now had a limited range, when it ranked up, it could be more useful in many cases where magic reigned supreme.
Of course, she wasn't sure how potent it was. But he did have some potential in him, despite not having a Class.
If she only knew he had a Forbidden Class related to Anti-Magic, how dumbfounded would she be?
After a pause, she continued walking.
She looked impressed.
"Wow, a spell related to disabling magic is something impressive. I knew you have some potential in you, Raizel. Surely, you can qualify to join a guild with that special spell. Do you have any specific guild in mind?" she asked, her eyes locked at his face.
Victor was slightly surprised by her calm composure. She surprisingly didn't press further.
That meant she was keeping an eye on him. Even now, she was trying to probe for more information.
Asking about his preferable guild couldn't make it more obvious. This girl was trying to poach him to her side or possibly into another organization.
He had to be more cautious around her.
As such, he replied halfheartedly, "Guild? I don't have any specific guild in my mind yet. I'll think about it when the time comes."
Indeed, they were talking about guilds in the real world.
There were a few prominent ones in his mind, but Raizel—his predecessor— never imagined he would be chosen as a player, much less join those wealthy, famous guilds.
So Victor wasn't so sure which one to choose
Kierra looked concerned after hearing his halfhearted reply.
"Hey, don't take choosing a guild lightly. If you join just any ordinary guild out there, they could make your life a living hell by giving you missions with impossible deadlines. So, think seriously," she warned seriously.
Though her words were true, she exaggerated a little.
Only those players who had no choice would fall into these life-sucking contracts and restrictions of such guilds.
Victor smirked. "Haha... You're so concerned about me. Perhaps, would you like to suggest a guild for me, Kierra?"
"Yes, why not? You should join Apex Guild. I'm planning to join there too," she replied cheerfully, as if she had nothing to hide.
Victor's smile faded instantly.
Did she seriously think he could join Apex Guild with his measly capabilities?
But at least now, he was sure the girl was affiliated with Apex Guild in some way. It could be just a casual mention, like she said, or something more.
Victor shook his head.
"You're overestimating me, Kierra.
Me? Joining in Apex Guild? That's like reaching the peak of life in a single step. I'm not talented enough to pass their tough requirements unfortunately"
Kierra tilted her head in puzzlement. "Why not? You're already close to completing the first requirement: to reach level 10 within the first three days in the beginner zone.
You just have to go through a few tests, and I'm sure you'll be in. If you don't even try, you're going to miss out on great things.
Besides, we could even meet in the real world if fate wills it," she added, looking genuinely happy at the idea.
Victor let out a sigh and said, "You're quite persistent. So that's why you were so adamant about reaching level 10 as soon as possible?"
"Yes." Kierra nodded firmly. "At first, I wasn't sure if you had what it takes to join Apex Guild, but now... I think you might just have a chance."
"I see... So if I am not able to join, you won't be able to team up with me, is that it?" Victor asked, already piecing together her motives.
He realized his assumption could be wrong as well. Maybe the girl just wanted someone to accompany her. But why? Did she not have any close friends to team up with?
Kierra, though briefly taken aback by his keen insight, didn't deny it.
"Yes, you're right, Raizel. If you don't join, we won't be able to team up anymore. Apex Guild has strict rules and restrictions about who we can work with," she admitted, her mood slightly low.
Sensing her mood, Victor exhaled sharply.
Now… what should he do? He had no issue teaming up with her, but the real question was—could he actually join the prestigious Apex Guild?
He didn't want to give her false hope, so he replied calmly, "Alright, I'll try my best. For now, let's just focus on reaching level 10. No need to stress over it."
"Oh, sure." Kierra's expression brightened a little. At least he didn't outright reject the idea, she thought.
As for why she was so willing to team up with him, she wasn't entirely sure yet.
But there was something about Raizel—a surprising sense of maturity and composure that was rare to find in others.
And, more than anything, he was someone who could tolerate her difficult temperament, something even she was well aware of.
