Later that day, Andrew made sure the guestroom was ready for the Gattis. He took their little suitcases in and cleaned Arianna's room while I made sure Arianna had her bath. Andrew had been really helpful; he microwaved lunch and made sure to deliver it to all the rooms.
He insisted I eat while he watched, giving no room for excuses. After I had finished, together we went to Arianna's room, but she wasn't there. We decided to check Nadia's room. Arianna was on her sister's bed, hugging a frame and quietly sobbing. Andrew gave me a knowing look and excused himself. I sat on the bed, placing the meal I brought on the bedside table. I softly enveloped Arianna in warmth, trying to give her a sense of security.
"Come on, let's get you something to eat, then you'll lie down and rest," I suggested. She looked at me, her eye bags swollen, lips trembling from all the crying.
