They all stood to their feet in disbelief and contempt. Eyes pointed daggers at me, hands clenched into fists, noses flaring in anger. None of it seemed to affect me as I looked them in the eyes, grinning in triumph.
"Well, I see you do not need your shares anymore. Adios, then." I stood up, smoothing my suit in an attempt to excuse myself from the table.
"Wait!" A voice said, one I recognized too well—Luca.
"You better not think about it, Lulu," his aunt Remi strongly warned.
"We would never beg this scum for anything," Felix joined in.
"There should be something else we can do, anything other than kneel in front of the world and beg," Freya observed.
My eyes, dark and menacing, glared at her brown orbs. "You made it public; it could have been just the employees as witnesses, but you all played god. See where that got you," I said in a sharp, unforgiving tone.
"You cannot do this to us, Nikolai. My parents were your partners for goodness' sake!" he shrieked.
