When it finally stopped, I collapsed onto Andrew's lap, feeling completely drained.
"It's okay, Cass. Let it all out," he murmured, stroking my hair softly.
"I'm so sorry," I whispered, my voice weak. "I just can't keep anything down."
"Don't apologize," he said firmly. "You've been through so much. Your body is just reacting to all the stress."
"I feel like I'm falling apart," I confessed, tears welling up in my eyes.
Andrew helped me to my feet and guided me to the bathroom. He gently washed my face and hands, the cool water soothing my flushed skin. Then, without a word, he scooped me up in a bridal style and carried me to the bedroom.
He laid me down on the bed and stayed beside me, kissing my forehead tenderly. "You're not alone, Cass. I'm here with you."
I looked up at him, grateful for his presence. "Thank you, Andrew. I don't know what I'd do without you."
"Rest now," he whispered, brushing a strand of hair away from my face. "We'll get through this together."
