Luke let out a slow breath, his hand still clutching his chest.
"You saved my life. Thank you."
He said, glancing sideways at Selene.
Selene didn't respond.
Her eyes were unfocused, like she wasn't fully present. Her grip on Luke's wrist was firm—too firm. It wasn't the hold of someone guiding, but someone clinging for balance.
Luke frowned.
"Selene?"
He called, placing his hand on her shoulder.
At his touch, Selene blinked rapidly, as if snapping out of a trance. She let go of him abruptly and shook her head.
"I'm fine. You need to go. The next round's about to start"
She muttered.
Luke hesitated, worry flashing through his eyes.
"Are you sure—?"
"Just go."
Selene said. Her voice was sharp, but distant, like she didn't even hear herself.
Luke didn't want to leave, but the system's call pressed in on his mind. With one last look, he turned and made his way back toward the tournament arena.
Selene exhaled slowly, trying to calm her thundering heart.
