Harley
"Miss Harley, Miss Harley, wake up."
"Mmm." I groan, tugging my covers tighter around me, burying myself in their warmth. Maybe if I stay still enough, they'll give up.
"Judy, what's going on?" My mother's voice. Just great.
"Miss Harley does not want to wake, and Mr. Moore said that everyone needs to be present at breakfast." Judy's voice is polite, but I can hear the edge of frustration.
There goes my plan—drown in sleep, shop all day, and ignore everyone in this house.
"It's alright, go finish up. I'll wake her."
Judy's footsteps retreat, and I know what's coming before my mother even speaks.
"Harley, honey, wake up."
I don't move. Maybe she'll leave.
"Harley… I know you're awake." Her voice is knowing, teasing even. "You did that thing again with your toes."
Damn it. She caught me. And the worst part? She never told me exactly what 'thing' I do, just calls it her secret weapon against me. I hate it.
