Silence. It felt like something was missing. That's what Alger was feeling right now. He had just arrived home and opened his bedroom door. Alger sensed something was off, as it wasn't like usual. Normally, Lily would greet him with a smile, and sometimes, there were little things she did that made Alger's exhaustion disappear in an instant.
But now, because of her parents' mistakes, Lily and Alger were forced to live apart because she needed some time to calm down.
"It's true what they say, that love always comes with the risk of pain. No matter what happens, Lily will never leave my life for the second time."
Alger's steps led him to a balcony, the place where Lily usually worked. She had said there was no need for an office, just the balcony and the peace it provided so she could think clearly.
Alger's gaze fell on a chair and table in the corner of the room. The image of Lily sitting there echoed in his mind.
