Chapter 43 - Chapter 43: A World for Two

Bruce stared intently at Kino, his gaze sharp enough to pierce through any disguise. He was searching for even the slightest clue in Kino's expression, demeanor, or actions. However, the result left him deeply puzzled and frustrated.

This man seemed to have appeared out of thin air—no past traces, no background to investigate.

Bruce silently speculated. Could he be an alien? A being from a distant galaxy who had arrived on Earth with an unknown purpose?

Or perhaps, like Diana, he had been living in some isolated place, untouched by the outside world?

This uncertainty made Bruce uneasy. He was used to being in control, accustomed to seeing through the darkness and uncovering the truth.

But Kino's presence was like a thick fog that clouded his vision, making it impossible to find a direction.

Kino met Bruce's gaze, a faint smile playing on his lips. "Do I make you uneasy? Apart from copying Superman's powers, I have never done anything bad in this world. In fact, I even helped you find your son."

Bruce's eyes grew sharper. "This world? So, you're from another world?"

Kino nodded and admitted, "That's right. My name is Kino, and I come from the Marvel Universe.

In the future, a villain of unimaginable power will erase half of all life in the universe. That's why I came to your world—to seek enough strength to protect myself."

Bruce frowned upon hearing this, doubt filling his eyes. "If I remember correctly, Marvel is just a comic book company. Are you saying you came out of a comic book?"

Kino nodded again. "Something like that."

Bruce's gaze became even more intense. "So, you learned my identity from those comics as well?"

Kino answered calmly, "Your universe is called the DC Universe."

"I see. Then I must be one of the main characters in this story."

Bruce's voice remained steady, his expression composed. Despite learning that his world might just be a comic book, he showed no sign of panic or distress.

Kino looked at Bruce, admiration flashing in his eyes. "That's right. In your universe, you are indeed an incredibly important figure.

In every Gotham, there is always a Batman who fights against crime. Most of the time, that Batman is Bruce Wayne, but in some worlds, it's your father. And in a few, even your brother."

Bruce frowned. "I have a brother in another universe?"

Kino nodded seriously. "Yes. In one universe, Thomas Wayne Jr. killed you and your parents, becoming Gotham's Owlman."

Bruce's expression grew complicated, as if trying to picture this alternate version of himself and his family. "It's hard to imagine that something like that could happen in another universe."

"Can I travel to your universe?"

Kino shook his head. "Everyone in this universe can leave, except for you."

"Why?"

"You have a deep connection with a certain being, one I currently can't defeat. If you leave this world, Gotham itself might be destroyed," Kino explained.

Barbatos saw Bruce Wayne as the key to opening a gateway to the positive-matter universe. If he disappeared, no one could predict the consequences.

"…I understand."

Kino stood up, preparing to leave.

"I've answered your questions. I'll come find you in five days."

After Kino left, Bruce sat motionless on the couch like a statue, his brows furrowed in deep thought.

"A connection with a powerful figure… One that indirectly affects Gotham's crime rate. What exactly is their goal?"

These questions kept circling in his mind, yet he couldn't find an answer.

A Father's Realization

Just then, a knock on the door pulled him out of his thoughts.

"Master Bruce."

Bruce snapped out of his daze, realizing that night had already fallen.

"Come in, Alfred," he said, his voice carrying a hint of exhaustion.

Alfred entered with Damian, who had changed into fresh clothes. The boy's face still held traces of unease and confusion. Standing before Bruce, Alfred's expression was serious as he spoke.

"Miss Talia has already left. But you should take a look at this."

Alfred gently rolled up Damian's sleeve, revealing an arm covered in scars—both old and new, crisscrossing in a shocking pattern.

Bruce's eyes darkened as he took in the sight, a flicker of pain flashing through them.

"Does it hurt?"

His voice was deep and gentle as he carefully traced his fingers over the scars, as if trying to erase the suffering they represented.

Damian looked up at the man before him, his expression conflicted.

His mother had told him that this was the strongest man in the world. That as his son, he had to become strong enough to defeat him.

But this man… He had so many weaknesses. And the emotions in his eyes—so unfamiliar, yet not unwelcome.

This feeling left Damian confused, shaking the foundation of what he had always believed.

"It doesn't hurt anymore."

Alfred spoke up. "Master Bruce, while bathing Damian, I noticed something…"

Bruce listened intently, his gaze unreadable as he looked at Damian.

"Damian, what do you think of that man from before?"

"He's strong. And terrifying."

"But do you hate him?"

"…No."

"I see."

Bruce silently came to a decision.

A Time to Relax

Meanwhile, Kino had randomly teleported into a bustling city. The moment he landed, Venom's familiar figure appeared beside him, affectionately clinging to him.

"Venom, for the next three days, let's enjoy our exclusive time together," Kino said with a smile, his eyes filled with anticipation.

"Kino, why here? Why not Gotham?"

"Gotham is too oppressive and dangerous. It's not the right place for us to relax," Kino chuckled, shaking his head before taking Venom's hand and blending into the lively crowd.

After obtaining a human form, Venom had also gained a sense of taste. Though food provided her no real nutrition, her curiosity pushed her to try the flavors Kino loved.

The two of them strolled through the city, sharing bites of food from different stalls, one after the other.

A satisfied smile adorned Venom's delicate face, while Kino gazed at her with a look of pure adoration.

Behind them, a young man watched in admiration, silently thinking to himself, "To have such a beautiful girlfriend… This guy is seriously lucky."
