Though many were startled, no major commotion ensued—just confusion, especially since there was no gunfire as often seen in movie scenes when criminals clash.
The police soon descended upon the area to chase after the two cars following reports of a reckless chase from several residents. The suspects were already gone when they arrived, making it hard for the police officers to arrest them.
One of the cars carried Kaito's subordinates, who were sent on an assignment. However, upon discovering Kaito's plan, Tetsuya had his men lay an ambush. His goal was to ensure the car never reached the hospital, and his plan worked.
