"Does the name Kelsey ring a bell."
She stiffened a bit, alarm bells rang in her head. So he did know and what did he plan on doing if she did admit that it was her?
Oh shit, what to do?
"No Sir."
She couldn't admit it was her, what would it help? What would it change? What would it solve if she admitted it?
He tilted his head, "Honesty is one of our most important values Ayla."
She stilled herself within, get a grip, Ayla, you need to pull this off confidently. "You can see on my form, Ayla. Sir." That is the only name I have and go by. No second names whatsoever.
He got up and Ayla shifted a bit, her heart hammered so fast when he sat in front of her. She looked down.
He placed his finger under her chin and raised her face, her eyes widened. Her heart beat fast.
His face and intensity all enveloped her, he intimidated her in so many ways and could she hold on to her lie any longer?
"Ayla, I never mistaken people, most of all someone who I.........…"
There was a knock on the door, his hand retreated but he still sat there, close to her and his scent was inviting.
She had hoped he would move from there, it was a compromising position or did he do it to all his staff?
No, she doubted it, he was asking her about her fake alter ego,
"Come in."
The door opened and could see that Claire was taking in the situation. She seemed to be shocked, confused, and a bit worried. "Her time is up Sir."
She wanted to explain to Claire that she was not letting her down and would tell her that after the meeting.
Ayla knew she would not tell her about the one-night stand and Kelsey situation of course. She would pick and choose what to explain to her.
If she had a job after this in the first place.
"Close the door, I'm not done. I will send her back when I'm done."
Ayla jumped inwards, what did he mean he was not done? What more did he want from her?
Did he mean to press her until she confessed? But the bigger question was would she succumb to his pressure?
Claire smiled, "Of course Sir."
She closed the door, and so much for saved by the bell. Ayla looked at Xavier and he was looking down at her intently.
She looked away, he was too much for her, in every way.
"So Ayla." He dragged her name out.
"Someone like me would never be able to." She replied.
"Never what?"
"Be in someone's such as yourself radar."
"Why not?"
"I'm not in your caliber as you are in a different league, and the only reason I have this chance is because of work, working underneath you."
"I see, but things do happen, I mean we could meet by mistake."
"How? Never in a million years would we be in the same places."
"You don't know me Ayla and the places I go to."
"You're right, I don't know you Sir, or anything for that matter."
"But, that does not change the fact that we can have a chance meeting."
"I highly doubt it."
"Do you drink?"
Shit, "Um socially or when wanting to relax but I don't drink much."
"Do you get drunk?"
"I drink responsibly Sir, never put myself in a bad situation. I'm very responsible."
"I see."
Better change the subject, "Thank you for helping me the other night Sir."
"This girl Kelsey was dumped by her boyfriend............."
Play stupid and ignorant Ayla, "Oh wow, I guess men are really out to get us."
