~15 Minutes Later~
Seated in the passenger seat at the front, Kiera fixed her seat belt and waited for Jace to drive.
"Are you okay, Kiera?" he asked, concern colouring his tone.
"Yes, I am. Thanks for asking."
She managed a smile, feeling grateful for his concern. Without saying a word, Jace drove through the early morning cityscape, his eyes were fixated on the road with the hum of the car's engine the only sound breaking the silence.
He glanced at Kiera before finally broaching the subject of Nicholas, delicately testing the waters.
"Kiera, I was wondering," he began, silently studying her face to see the change in her expression.
"Should I... should I avoid coming to your apartment?"
At once Kiera furrowed her brows, unable to fathom where all of this was coming from. Sensing her confusion, he continued, "I don't want to cause any misunderstandings with Nicholas," he hinted in a thoughtful tone.
