The house was nestled serenely amidst the golden expanse of sunflower fields. Its structure was one of simplicity and quaint charm that it felt somewhat mislaid given the momentous transaction they were about to undertake.
As though both of them were having similar thoughts, Jace and Kiera glanced at each other, nodded and then returned their gaze to the house. Leading the way, the old man brought them in and excused himself. Upon entering, Kiera's brows knitted together in quiet consternation, the simplicity of the dwelling appearing as an odd setting for their meeting.
A few minutes later, a maid donned in a neatly pressed uniform, entered carrying a tray laden with steaming cups of coffee and two plates of covered cookies. Her courteous smile was the first interaction they had since the old man left them in the living room.
"Welcome. Please enjoy this cup of coffee and snacks before the Master arrives," she greeted warmly.
