"You! An inferior b*stard! Just sponge off of that old woman!
What do you have to brag about?" Black Wolf roared furiously as he heard Haider's words.
When he heard the words "that old woman", Haider's expression turned deathly cold. He raised the sword in his left hand, and a gust of wind lifted his white cape majestically. His blood was boiling, and it released an immense aura of power, engulfing the man standing before him. Black Wolf instantly registered Haider's terrifying fury, and he trembled violently out of fright.
"D*mn it! Since when did this b *stard, Haider's powers become on par with the second-generation Vampire King?"
"How did he hone his skills at such a divine speed? What has happened within these years?" Black Wolf wondered.
A huge wave of terror befell him, and he knew very clearly that if he stubbornly put up a fight with Haider, he would be defeated very quickly.
Black Wolf raised his head, and his lips were trembling very slightly.
"This time, I will let her off temporarily. However, I am warning you. Lilith will regain her memories sooner or later, and when she is finally revived and finds out the truth, you will bear the brunt of her deranged revenge!"
As he finished his words, a flash of dazzling light glowed around him, and Black Wolf's tall body suddenly spun and shrunk. In his place, a huge wolf covered in dark fur leaped from the flash of light.
Haider realized that Black Wolf was intending to escape, and in the next moment, he rushed to Black Wolf like an agile panther.
Haider wielded the crimson sword in his hand and stabbed it into the wolf's heart.
"How... how is this possible?" Black Wolf could only mutter in disbelief.
He stared at the overbearing man before him, and his green eyes were tinged with incredulous dismay.
At the brink of death, Black Wolf was still in utmost disbelief, he could not fathom why Haider could vanquish him with only one move!
Avril was in shock as she witnessed all of this with her own eyes. If it weren't for the fact that she had pinched herself and felt the ensuing pain, she would have thought that she was watching a sci-fi film.
Haider's eyes were locked on Black Wolf's dead body. He stood there, unmoving, for a while. Black Wolf's words before made him at a loss momentarily. He stood still for a few seconds, then waved his hand to slid the sword back.
Finally, Haider turned around indifferently.
Only when he turned around did Avril notice his well-built figure, enshrouded by his white cape. He had broad shoulders and a slim waist. His tight-fitting cavalier's trousers accentuated his shapely and muscular thighs. His figure was very attractive.
He walked towards Avril with solid strides, and his bewitching gaze stared straight into her eyes. Avril did not dare look directly back at him.
Such a handsome and majestic man appearing before her, like a charming knight from ancient times! It made her heart flutter.
Avril shook her head violently. "No, I have a fiancé. I can't be tempted no matter how good-looking he is!" she thought.
"Lilith, did I frighten you?" Haider took off his cloak and wrapped it around Avril's slender figure.
Avril could feel his body warmth emanating from his cloak. She lowered her head and whispered,
"I think you've mistaken me for someone else. I'm not Lilith."
Why did they all mistake her for Lilith? And who exactly was he? Did he actually kill that bad wolf?
Avril's mind was in a mess. But she understood that the man who has just saved her life must be a good person!
Hearing Avril denying that she was Lilith, Haider's eyes dimmed with an unspoken sorrow.
"Pardon me, Miss Avril. I have frightened you."
"No, no, no!" Avril shook her hand vigorously.
"I have to thank you for saving me," Avril replied.
He tried to hide his disappointed feelings and smiled gently at her.
"It's late. Let me escort you home first." Haider said.
"Thank you!" Avril said. Even though Avril was shocked and terrified, she managed to control her emotions and refrained herself from asking what was going on. As an adult, she understood that the more she knew, the sooner she would lose her life.
Just as Avril was about to express her gratitude, she felt a wide palm grab her around her waist. Before she could even feel shocked, a flash of light struck before her eyes. In the next moment, she was already standing in front of her house.
What was going on? Was she dreaming? Was that the so-called Teleportation?
Avril was in shock, and she turned to look at Haider. Before she could utter a word to question him, she was mesmerized by his deep, violet eyes.
"Forget it all. After tonight, you will forget everything that happened tonight," Haider said.
Haider's voice exuded a hypnotic power, and Avril's eyes gradually closed involuntarily. Her body went soft and she collapsed into his embrace.
His gaze was filled with love and empathy as he stared at her face affectionately. He was filled with a despaired longing. After a while, he closed his eyes and kissed her forehead very gently.
"My Princess, I'm back!" The next morning.
The shrill ringing of an alarm clock rang in the cozy bedroom. Avril struggled to emerge from her comfortable blankets. With her bleary eyes, she looked towards the window. The dazzling rays of morning sunlight were pouring into her room, penetrating through the pale golden curtains. She had to blink her beautiful eyes until she got used to it.
"Did I get burnt out from work lately?"Why couldn't she recall how she got home last night?
Avril reached for her phone to turn off the alarm. When she saw the words "Marriage" on the screen, she was first mildly astonished.
Then, her lips curved into a sweet smile. It had almost slipped her mind.
She was supposed to get married to her fiancé, Jack Normandy, at the registry today!
She felt a spark of delight. She got up from the bed and went to wash up in the bathroom. She put on some makeup, picked out a long white dress, and made a happy twirl in front of her mirror. She was going to be Jack's wife very soon!
It was a long-awaited moment for her. As she left the house, she called Jack a few times. He didn't pick up her calls.
"What's going on?" Avril was a little shocked. Didn't he promise to pick her up at 9:30 a.m. today?
"Did something go wrong?" Avril started panicking after a long wait on the street.
"Jack, you must be well and safe!" murmured her. She quickly hailed a taxi and rushed to Jack's place.
Jack lived in a historic little house with a vintage air about it. Outside, there was a small yard that looked a little dilapidated because of the scattered leaves brought by the autumn winds. Avril stood at the entrance, and she rang the doorbell. Upon her face, there was an unmasked look of worry.
