Chapter 50 - An Ambush

The Alpha's mansion stood tall and proud, its grandeur unwavering even in the face of darkness. But tonight, something was amiss. A sense of unease settled over the estate, like a shroud cast over the land.Inside, the Alpha's pack had gathered, preparing for their nightly hunt. The air was electric with anticipation, their senses heightened as they set out into the night. But little did they know, their absence would be exploited. As soon as they left for their hunt, a figure, shrouded in shadows, crept onto the estate. With a wicked grin, he set to work, unleashing a trail of destruction upon the mansion.Windows shattered, glass splintering onto the floor. Car tires screeched, rubber burning as they were slashed and torn. The sound of crunching metal echoed through the halls, a symphony of chaos. The Alpha's prized possessions, once polished and gleaming, now lay in ruins. Vandalized and broken, they seemed to mock the pack's absence. When he had done enough damage to the place, the figure vanished, leaving behind a scene of utter devastation. When the pack returned, their hunt was successful, but their triumph was short-lived. As they approached the mansion, their hearts sank."What in the...?" the Alpha trailed off, eyes wide with disbelief.Their home, once a symbol of power and strength, now lay in shambles. The pack's collective growl rumbled through the air, their anger and frustration palpable.Oh my, Denzel said looking at the his once beautiful mansion in ruinsAs they ventured deeper into the mansion, the extent of the damage became clear. Furniture upended, artwork torn, and belongings scattered everywhere. The pack's beta, Ronald, stepped forward, his voice low and menacing. I know who did this, it's Ried, and he will pay.Denzel nodded, his jaw clenched. " you're right, it's Reid. Then his attention turned to Nira, Thank God I took you out for the hunt who knows what could have happened to you if we had left you here, he said holding her hands. This is the second time he has done this, what guts he has, one of the female pack members said. But I don't smell Reid, I smell someone else, probably someone from Bluefur Pack and he's still close we can still catch him. Ronald and Jason follow me the rest of you stay here, Cordelia stay with Nira I'll be back okay Denzel said placing his head on hers. Be safe okay Nira said with concernDon't worry. Let's go, Denzel said facing Jason and RonaldRonald nodded, his face set in a fierce grin. "Yes, Alpha."Denzel, Jason, and Ronald stood at the edge of the woods, their noses twitching as they picked up the scent of the invader. The smell was faint, but unmistakable - a musky, earthy aroma that seemed to linger in the air."Let's move," Denzel said, his voice low and urgent. "We need to track him down before he causes any more damage."Jason nodded, his eyes scanning the trees. "Stay sharp, guys. We don't know what we're up against."Ronald grunted, his hand on the knife sheathed at his belt. "I'm ready for whatever comes our way."Together, the three men ventured into the woods, their senses on high alert. The scent of the invader grew stronger, leading them deeper into the forest. As they walked, the trees seemed to close in around them, casting long, ominous shadows on the ground. Denzel's heart beat faster, his instincts screaming that they were getting close.Suddenly, Jason stopped, his head cocked to one side. "Do you hear that?" he whispered.Denzel and Ronald listened, their ears straining to pick up any sound. And then, they heard it too - a faint rustling, like leaves being disturbed."It's him," Denzel growled, his eyes scanning the underbrush. "Let's go."They moved forward, their movements stealthy, their hearts pounding in unison. The rustling grew louder, and then, they saw him - a figure, tall and imposing, standing in a clearing. For a moment, the three men froze, their eyes locked on the figure. And then, Denzel sprang forward, his knife at the ready. As they approached the figure, Denzel could see that it was tall and imposing, with eyes that seemed to bore into his soul. The air around it seemed to ripple and distort, like the surface of a pond on a summer's day."Who are you and who sent you?" Denzel demanded, his voice firm and commanding."You should know who sent me," it growled, its voice like thunder in the distance.Denzel stood tall, his eyes locked on the figure. "It's Reid. Make sure to capture him. He might be our ticket to finding Reid's hideout," he said, his voice firm. The figure snarled, its eyes flashing with anger. And then, it vanished, leaving the three men standing alone in the clearing. As they stood in the bush, trying to process what had just happened, Denzel's instincts began to scream at him. Something was off. He looked at Jason and Ronald, and saw the same unease reflected in their eyes."What's going on?" Jason whispered, his eyes scanning the trees."I don't know," Denzel replied, his voice low, "but I don't like it."And then, without warning, the woods erupted into chaos. Groups of werewolves emerged from the trees, their eyes glowing in the dark. Denzel's heart skipped a beat as he saw the one they had encountered before, its eyes fixed on them with a snarl."Oh no," Ronald whispered, his voice trembling. "It's an ambush."Denzel's mind racing, he grabbed his friends and pulled them back, trying to get out of the clearing. But it was too late. The werewolves surrounded them, their teeth bared and ready to strike."We have to get out of here," Jason yelled, his eyes darting back and forth. But Denzel knew they were trapped. The werewolves had them surrounded, and there was no escape. As the pack closed in, Denzel stood his ground, ready to fight. But he knew they were outnumbered, and the odds were against them. This was it. They were in grave danger, and they might not make it out alive. The werewolves crept closer, their eyes fixed on Denzel and his friends. Denzel could feel their hot breath on his skin, and he knew they were running out of time."Get ready," he whispered to Jason and Ronald, his eyes scanning the pack. But before they could react, the werewolves attacked. Denzel felt a searing pain in his arm as one of them bit down, and he knew they were in trouble.Jason and Ronald fought back, but they were outnumbered. Denzel saw Jason go down, tackled by a group of werewolves, and he knew they had to act fast. With a surge of adrenaline, Denzel fought back, his fists flying as he tried to take down the werewolves. But there were too many of them, and soon he found himself on the ground, surrounded by snarling faces. As he looked up at the werewolves, Denzel knew they were defeated. Then he saw a figure, a figure he remembered, REID.
