'I can't have healing as my Exousia, I don't want to be a M'. People who had healing as their Exousia fought rather recklessly always ready to exchange an injury for an injury, at least that was how he viewed all the fights back in his shelter.
'calm down I was healed passively which means it my Innate ability not my Exousia'.
"Then where did the injury go". Cyris the last born spoke out still in confusion.
"I don't know didn't you see when he was slapped, he was surely injured then". Their sister Maria tried to clarify but Cyris seems hellbent on being deaf.
"Then where didn't the injury go to".
"I don't know didn't you see the blood, and stop saying the same thing".
"Then where did the injury go to".
"Stop saying the same thing damn it".
Normally looking at her children bantering, it would have brought with it a moment of fulfillment but they was an issue on hand. For one how did her son Marius heal himself so suddenly. She knew that she wasn't that smart and that's why she leaves all the thinking to her husband, it wasn't that she dumb but she couldn't make sense of what had happened.
"Then where did the injury go".
"Maybe he was touched by the goddess, that would explain the injury".
"You are touched by the goddess but when you injured yourself with that splinter you started to cry. And when you cry, you are pretty ugly". Cyris said mockery evident on his face and tone
"That really hurts". Maria tried to defend herself
"But it didn't heal that fast, it haven't even properly healed right now".
Hearing her daughter words her eyes lit up. 'touched by the goddess I can use that till Timon gives us an explanation".
"Cyris listen to your sister, Marius was touched by the godd—
"Then where did the injury go".
"Look when you are touched by the goddess you gain enhancement in all your physical, mental, and spiritual capabilities. Which in Marius case includes healing".
"That the same thing I said, well in other words but it's essentially the same thing".
"When I asked the question, where did the injury go, I wasn't talking to you I was talking to Mom. That's why I keep asking the same question, and besides Am not in for your dumb explanation. As he was saying these words he edged closer to their mother.
Ignoring her daughter beet red face and her son who hid behind her she suddenly got a bad feeling like a knot on her stomach and for no reason she started to get anxious.
"You, who are you calling dumb".
"Am talking to you you wannabe senior sister, what're you going to do stare me to death". The staring continued until Maria let out a 'hump' then backed down.
"That's what I thought". Cyris spoke in a triumphant voice want an equally triumphant expression.
"That's enough let's just calm down and go home". Her anxiety was growing and now they was a lump in her throat and her heart was beating really fast as if it wanted to be free from it's position in her ribcage.
"Home? Why should we go home". But her daughter wasn't having any of it.
"Well—
"If anyone has to go home it's Marius cause he is injured and he even healed up so I don't see why we have to go home".
"Even still I think it's time we wrap it up and head home".
"You know what mom you can go me and my brothers are staying behind".
"No I can't leave you behind without supervision".
"That's the problem am old enough to be out of supervision not under it".
"No matter how old you are, you all are still my little children so—
"Let me allow you ruin their life just as you ruined mine".
"Here we go again". Claire muttered under her breath.
"You ruined my life just because you wanted to be a ruler over my life".
"That's just slandering and how many times do I have to explain it to you, I didn't say such things".
"I know you didn't say it, all I ever wanted was you out of my business but no, it's as if you are glued to me, monitoring my every movement".
'Because I love you'. That's what she wanted to say, but she knew it wouldn't get to her daughter. They have had the conversation before, numerous times. Her daughter has forgiven her after that incident but they was still a crack in their relationship, and every now and then it slips through the crack.
It all began something ago, her daughter Marie started going out early and coming back late, she had already sat her daughter down and asked her what was going on but she would just giggle out of the conversation, but as long as she was happy everything was fine. Until one day she came home with a boy saying nonsense about marriage, what did she do, she drove the boy home sat her daughter down and had a conversation with her, but it all fell on deaf ear. One day she saw the same boy make out with another girl, after she aprended the two of them she reported to both their parents, result— but parents came together to scheme to protect their reputation fearful of she telling the rest of the village, they lied about the situation, turning it around saying that she came to warn them against her daughter who was caught making out with a guy.
The boy's parents turned the story around saying that, she had seen her daughter making out and come to warn them about her daughter but in reality it was the other way round, they even went as far as presenting they younger son as the one she was making out with, it was an humiliating time, it was at the time she came to realization, without supervision humanity would consume themselves in needless fights.
"Why did you go over there in the first place, you could have just told me and I would have confirmed by myself, he love me he would have told me the truth". Her voice gradually became smaller and smaller until it was barely audible, she started crying silently as she recalled her first love accusing her of making out with his brother her heart still hurt anytime she recalled what had happened.
Without waiting Maria walked towards the direction of they home. With a sigh Claire took her remaining children by the hand and followed suite. The journey was silent except for the frequent whimper from Marius, it was pretty silent. From afar she saw a small sized crowd standing in front of her house.
Upon arrival her husband rushed out of the crowd towards her, he heed her in a firm grip as he began to bombard with questions in a frenzy.
"Are you guys hurt?".
"No we are fine".
"Whare have you been I told you guys to come back as fast as possible".
"Actually you sa—
"Never mind we ought to get out of here as fast as possible".
"Where are we going all of a sudden and Timon stop acting weird".
"There is no time to explain we all are in danger, every minute count". Timon had an expression full of fear but that didn't explain the reason to leave their home.
"Leave, to where".
"Look all I can say is that 'it' has possessed the apostle and now the pearl is in 'it's hands, 'it' thanked us for retrieving the pearl for 'it' and gave us a head start to escape, and informing the village is going to take time, that how we decided to gather our families and leave before it's too late".
"What are you saying, and who is 'it". Claire was very confused, she didn't understand what Timon was saying and who he was referring to as 'it'.
"From the gorge, a monstrosity has escaped the gorge and has possessed the Apostle for who knows how long, and it is in possession of the pearl now no one is safe".
" So you decided to escape alone, leaving the village to save your skin, that feels right to you". She pulled away from the hold of her husband confusion and pain crowning her expression, when she could finally wrap her head around the fact that that could all die, she couldn't wrap her head around the fact that her husband decided to escape the village without second thoughts. 'who did I get married to'.
"I know it's wrong but there is little I can do". He tried to hold her but she pulled back creating space between themselves. 'she doesn't get it that thing is not supposed to exist'.
"Timon we got to go there isn't enough time". A rather short man spoke out , his face full of impatience, worry and even showed some hostility at Claire
Timon turned to his wife. "Please trust me on this, you don't want to experience being in the presence of that thing, it is a demoralizing and dehumanizing monstrosity, with a sadistic nature, I still remember what it said to me.
"Many thanks for retrieving the pearl for me, I am truly grateful and as a token of my gratitude, I will give you time to run, run as far as you pitiful strength can carry you, but watch your backs I may be behind you, and I may not. Truly wonderful just smelling the fear from you is making me satisfied, I wonder how your fear filled flesh would taste like, run along now least I change my mind".
