Karlene found herself being pushed onto the ground with Roy on top of her.
She couldn't comprehend what had happened as she looked up and saw blood spreading across Roy's shoulder.
"Ugh!" Roy let out a low, painful cry, his face contorted with agony.
"What the…?"
Karlene didn't have time to react to Roy's injury.
She quickly pushed Roy aside when she saw the assassin aiming his gun directly at them.
Time seemed to slow as her instincts kicked in.
Gripping the gun in her hand, she fired a shot with deadly precision.
The bullet hit the assassin squarely in the chest, and he collapsed to the ground with a groan, the gun falling from his lifeless hand.
Karlene quickly went back to check on Roy.
His face was pale, his eyes fluttering as he fought to stay conscious. "Mr. Roy, hold on! I-I'll call the ambulance!"
She searched her pockets and realized she had previously dropped her phone. "Shit!"
"Ka-Karlene..." Roy tried to call her name weakly.
