Chapter 12 - "The Bunny’s Fatal Mistake"

Usagi's POV:

I'm all flustered now!

Ahh… What did I just say?! No, no, no, that was way too bold of me! I know that living together means we were going to sleep in the same bed eventually, but… I haven't even calmed my racing heart from what just happened, and now I went and said that to Okami-kun!

What if he takes it the wrong way?!

But… I can't take it back now. He's already in bed, and I've finished doing the dishes. I have to go in… No excuses left.

Wait! Let me brush my teeth first—yes, good plan!

I quickly grab my toothbrush, trying to steady my nerves, but as I brush, a strange thought creeps into my mind. Why does it feel like I'm expecting something?

No, no, no! I'm not! …Am I?

It's not like I'd mind if something happened… It's just the way he tries to do things that scares me. But I know he's not a bad guy. He only acts like this toward me because… because I react this way.

It's my fault.

I ended up tempting him.

I took a deep breath and stepped into the bedroom. The room was dimly lit by the soft glow of the bedside lamp, casting long shadows across the walls. Okami was lying on the bed, casually flipping through his book, but the moment his eyes met mine, he looked up and smirked.

In that instant, he didn't feel like a harmless boy lost in his book—he felt like a wolf lurking in the shadows, waiting patiently for his prey to step into his territory.

I hesitantly walked toward the bed, my heart pounding louder with each step. Sitting down just next to him, I kept my gaze firmly on the blanket, too nervous to look his way.

Ahh, I can't even face him...

Is my nightdress okay? Does my hair look messy?—Wait... I didn't wear matching undergarments! Ahhh, what do I do? Should I go change real quick?

No, wait... why am I acting like I want something to happen?!

"Usagi," Okami's husky, teasing voice called out, sending a jolt through my heart.

I hesitated but turned to look at him—only to be met with that devilish smirk. Ah… he took my words the wrong way after all!

He... he wants it.

A chill ran down my spine as he leaned in closer, his warm breath brushing against my ear.

"You shouldn't let a wolf hold you in his jaws and expect him not to devour you," he whispered.

The air around us grew heavier. His gaze roamed over me, slow and deliberate, his brown eyes dark with something dangerously intense.

He wasn't just looking at me.

He was hunting me.
