"Move it!" The captain of the ship shouted out as I was unceremoniously kicked off the ship I was also unceremoniously forced onto in the first place.
They then tossed my luggage off the ship and onto the harbor before two brutes grabbed me, lifted me to my feet, shoved my leather sack into my hand before pushing me forward and leading me along.
Not really having much choice I followed them into this navel trade town here on the edge of the 'New World' as those back in the old world call it.
This Port, better known as Frontiers Point, is the only official town that exists here in the new world as due to the dangers of the unknowns no other settlement has been created.
But I already knew for a fact I won't be living within this towns safe walls as I was to be forced to be the new producer of monster goods here in the New World.
Not by my choice mind you, if it wasn't obvious that I didn't want to be here, but if I wasn't sold out by my deadbeat parents to settle there debts I wouldn't even be here in the first place.
But as I was thinking these thoughts I was soon brought into a large building in the center of this town before the two brutes stood by the door as one jerked his head towards the counter.
Getting the hint I headed over to the counter where I man was going over paperwork as his feather pen kept writing away, though he stopped and looked up at me briefly before moving his paperwork aside and pulling out a new sheet of paper.
"Name?"
"Toby."
"Occupation?"
"Monster Breeder and Tamer"
"Company?"
"….. The Shale Shark Company…." I said with a rather displeased sound in my voice.
Hearing this he stopped, looked up at me and then saw the chain tattoo on my right wrist.
"Ahh so your the sorry replacement for the last guy they lost a few months back." He said before pulling out a drawer that had many files inside it and after searching for found the Shale Shark company and my file.
"I see, so your being forced to pay off a 10,000 Gold Coin Debt under your name huh?" He says while I massage my temples at hearing that number.
"If only my parents weren't a bunch of gambling addicts and selling off their own son to off load the debt onto I wouldn't even be here!" I couldn't help but say through gritted teeth in anger at the situation I found myself in.
"Well all I can say it sucks to be you…" He said to my irritation but looked to see if those brutes were paying attention to what was going on.
However they weren't at the door anymore and had headed off to the Canteen to get some food, and seeing that he looked around before looking back at me.
"Well I should warn you that even if you somehow make enough money to pay off your debt those sharks will say that it built up a ludicrous amount of 'interest' just to screw you over and keep you bound to them, their a black company that treats almost all their workers as slaves, in fact all of their workers are some kind of slave with no hope of escaping." He said to me in a hushed tone as my face paled at hearing that.
"Really you only got three options, live forever as a slave while making them goods and money that they drain away from you, two run for the hills and try and survive in the wilderness of the new world, or option three somehow either capture and tame some B-Class monsters to build up a small army to destroy their company here in the new world." The guy said giving me my possible options I could do.
Be a slave for the rest of my life, die out in the wilderness, or somehow not get killed by B-Class Monsters and tame them to make them my own which is also practically a death sentence either way.
"But that's up to you I'm just laying out your options since nobody here in the Frontier likes them either and we would be better without them, however even then if they were destroyed they'd come back in full, so unless you get chummy with all the other merchants and when he finally comes to this town, that is our future lord then they could bar their passage back here to the new world and you will be safe and sound." He says making it sound simple as can be before opening up another cabinet and pulling out a suitcase.
"So to start off with here's your monster eggs to get you started, a G-Class Goblin Egg, a G-Class Piglie Egg, an E-Class Werecat Egg, and a E-Class Holstarus Egg, provided by your 'employers' so you can actually start doing something soonish out on your farm." The clerk said presenting the eggs before me as I looked them over with the eggs being Green for goblin, Pink for Piglie, Brown for Werecat, and black and white spotted for the Holstarus.
"At least it's something…" I say before closing the suitcase, though it all depends upon the gender as to what I can do with them, luckily a Holstarus are always female so I can quickly begin to produce milk which commoners like so it sells well.
"And your farm has been supplied with enough food and supplies to get you through the month thanks to your 'employer', no doubt to put you in more debt, anyway welcome to the Trade Hub of Frontiers Point, when you have supplies you want to sell off in bulk come here and we will buy it off you, however if you want to make more money it's best to look over at the request board for monster based Commodities along with requests for certain specific kinds of monsters that people are willing to buy as long as said monsters meet the right conditions of the buyer." He said motioning towards the boards nearby.
"Across the street is the Towns Adventures Guild, so long as you have the coin to afford it you can hire adventurers to help you locate and either kill or capture monsters for their parts or to tame them at your digression." He said making me look out the front door and seeing a building with an emblem of a shield with two swords crossed behind it above their main doors with people coming in and out of it.
"Though you can also form a party with your tamed monsters and go out on hunts as well but the choice is yours to make." He explained to me, but that was standard procedure after all with these places about explaining the basics of things.
After all while I was a monster tamer I was mainly a Holstarus farmer that produced milk in my old home city, however my farmstead was outside the city and so it wasn't hard for those scumbags to attack my home.
Not to say I didn't have any protection as I did have a C-Class Minotaur to protect my farm, but they must have done their homework as they brought their strongest squad and cut down my Minos before taking me and doing whatever they felt like doing with my farm and my monsters.
"…." I couldn't help but reflexively clench my hand in anger at this situation, my poor Holstarus probably sold off to other farms or whore houses for all I know, I wasn't emotionally close to them since I didn't try to Breed any of them myself but they were still my monsters and now I lost them all.
'Well except for one.' I think to myself while holding my luggage closely as their was one tightly sealed box inside of it that could get me ahead of the game in the situation I found myself in.
"Anyway you got the gist of it, make monster products and sell them here for cheap or sell them to requesters for better pay outs, but anyway your time seems up." The clerk said as I suddenly felt the two brute appearing behind me.
"Are you done yet little man? Cause I'm getting board of waiting around…." One of the thugs said while the other one chuckled at that.
I just sighed and left the counter before looking at the two of them, "Were done, show me where I'm supposed to go." I say to them.
They smirked before one took the lead with the other behind me as we walked out of the Trade Hub and out into the lands beyond this town as we entered the great unknown.
Who knows, maybe this will turn out to be a good thing, or a very very bad thing for me here In The New World.
