Qingxue stepped back into the store, her expression as unreadable as ever. The moment she entered, all eyes were on her. Her brothers, her mother, Li Shen—each of them studying her reaction, waiting to see if anything had changed.
But nothing had.
Gu Zeyan followed a few seconds later, his face calm, but the sharp glint in his golden eyes betrayed his thoughts. Whatever had been exchanged outside, it was clear that Qingxue had not given him the answer he wanted.
Li Shen chuckled, breaking the tension. "That was quite the serious conversation for a shopping trip."
Leng Haoyu gave him a flat look. "And you think you weren't obvious? You've been watching the whole time."
Li Shen shrugged. "Can you blame me? It's not every day I get to witness Young Master Gu make a request and get denied so effortlessly." His gaze flickered toward Qingxue, his golden eyes glinting with amusement. "Truly, Leng Qingxue is unmoved by kings."
Qingxue didn't even spare him a glance. "If you're done talking, we're leaving."
Jiang Yuixen smiled, thoroughly entertained. "Good idea. We've shopped enough for today."
With that, the Leng family exited the store as if nothing had happened, their presence still commanding the attention of everyone around them.
Ruolan, who had been watching the entire exchange from the sidelines, clenched her fists tightly. Qingxue had just brushed off not one but two of the most powerful heirs in the city. And yet, instead of facing any consequences, she had walked away completely untouched, still regarded with admiration and respect.
Why?
Why was it so easy for her?
As they left, Gu Zeyan and Li Shen stood in silence.
For a long moment, neither spoke. Then, Li Shen let out a soft laugh.
"You threatened her, didn't you?"
Gu Zeyan didn't respond.
Li Shen's smirk deepened. "And yet, she walked away without looking back. You know what that means, don't you?"
Gu Zeyan's eyes darkened. He knew.
Leng Qingxue wasn't afraid of him.
She wasn't afraid of anyone.
And that made her the most dangerous player of all.
