Chapter 2 - Return (2)

Crazy was having the time of his life.

He didn't know where he was.

He didn't know how he got here.

But he did know that he had a newfound strength.

He grinned eccentrically, feeling like a male teenager who held hands with a girl for the first time. And what better way to test his strength than to fight?

But then, his thoughts were cut off as the leader of the knights in shining armor shouted.

"Azure Lions Regiment Three! STAND BACK!" The knight spat, his eyes blazing with hatred as he unsheathed his sword. The sound of steel grinding against steel filled the air, ominous and sharp. "I will take care of this Demon myself!"

Before Crazy could even blink, the knight raised his sword high, its blade gleaming in the dim light. He didn't hesitate. With a voice that rang like thunder, he cried, "GODDESS VRYLIA, SAINT OF CLEANSING! I CALL UPON YOUR DIVINE POWER TO VANQUISH THIS WRETCHED FOE!"

Crazy widened his eyes as he suddenly saw a ray of light descend from the heavens, as the strands of light wrapped around the knight's sword like a snake.

Before he could comment on it, the knight suddenly brought the sword down.

Crazy immediately sensed danger as he jumped to the side, narrowly dodging the crescent of light that cleaved the air where he had been just a second ago.

The earth beneath him split open with the attack, and Crazy couldn't help but stare, wide-eyed. "Well, that's dramatic..."

And immediately raised his hands.

"Hey. Calm down. I'm no demon... Am I really that ugly?"

The knight gritted his teeth. His eyes blazed with holy light as steam hissed from his nostrils.

"HOW DARE YOU TRY TO LIE?! WE CAN SENSE YOUR IMMENSE VILE AURA, DEMON!"

Immense vile aura? No… Could it be?

Crazy lifted his arm and sniffed his armpits. "Hm… I smell perfectly fine," he muttered, unamused, before raising his arm again. "Come on, take a whiff."

The knights didn't even blink. They charged forward.

"WATCH OUT, IT'S TRYING TO CAST A SPELL!"

"STOP IT!"

Crazy sighed and cracked his knucles, but before he could even react, another crimson window appeared in his vision.

Another crimson window popped up.

Crazy narrowed his sharp red eyes as he read the chant, dodging a sword strike from an angry knight, before contorting his face in one of disgust.

"...F*ck, I'm not saying all of that."

Suddenly, just as he said that, another crimson window opened.

Crazy blinked, before smiling again.

...Well, that was awfully convenient.

Crazy winced. A brief, stabbing pain shot through his skull. Then, the world tilted.

------------------------------------

The pain was immediate. Crazy's hands flew to his head, his legs buckling beneath him. The knights saw their opportunity and rushed in, their blades descending.

"T- THE DEMON IS DISTRACTED! GET HIM!"

Then…

It hit.

A surge of rage so intense it felt like his skull was about to crack open. His vision blurred to red, and a low growl rumbled in his chest. It was the same kind of rage you feel when you lose your plate of spaghetti… or when your dog cheats on you with another human. That gnawing, irrational fury.

The knights' swords came down with deadly intent—just as Crazy's body exploded into motion.

His hand lashed out, grabbing a knight's wrist in a brutal grip. Bone shattered like dry twigs, the knight's scream swallowed by the chaos. Crazy didn't even flinch. With a savage twist, he ripped the sword from the knight's hand, spinning it once in the air, before slicing it through the air, as the knight's head quietly fell onto the ground.

A second knight came down on him, but Crazy was already in motion. He twisted, his fingers clenching around the knight's arm with crushing force. With a brutal heave, he hurled the headless body at the new attacker, slamming it into him midair. Metal crashed against metal as the pair crumpled to the earth, a tangle of limbs and broken armor.

Another knight, roaring with rage, charged at him. Crazy's foot slammed into his chest, sending the man flying backward, crashing to the ground with a thunderous impact. Blood sprayed from his mouth, his armor crumpling like paper under the force.

The rage in Crazy's veins was a fire, his limbs moving on pure instinct, burning with the thrill of the fight. His eyes blazed with an unnatural crimson glow as he cut through the knights like a storm. One swung a sword—Crazy bent backward, the blade slicing air just inches from his face.

In a heartbeat, his hand was around the knight's weapon, and with a single, brutal twist, he snapped the sword in two, sending the pieces flying.

The remaining knights faltered, their once-imposing formation shattered, hesitation creeping into their eyes.

Their leader, eyes narrowing in a mix of fury and desperation, raised his blade high, its edge crackling with deadly light. "Demon! You will not escape judgment!"

Crazy's grin was feral, teeth bared. He cocked his head, eyes smoldering. "You talk too much, f*cker."

Before the knight could react, Crazy was already on him—faster than the wind, faster than thought. His fist exploded into the knight's gut with the force of a mountain crashing down. The knight's breath whooshed out, his body flying backward like a ragdoll.

Crazy's grin widened, his breath ragged, his pulse a violent drumbeat. "Perish in agony."

The knight's body hit the ground with a sickening thud, the once-glowing sword now dead in the dirt.

The remaining knights stood frozen, paralyzed by terror, their faces pale with disbelief. They had never seen a demon like this before.

Crazy straightened, his body thrumming with raw, untamed power. His fingers flexed, each movement crackling with violent energy, his gaze lock

He took one slow step forward. The knights flinched.

Crazy's lips curled into a twisted grin. "Now then…" he purred, enjoying the tension in the air. His skin felt… wrong. Sharper. Deadlier.

Another crimson window flashed before his eyes.

Crazy hummed. There was something inside him, something untamed and wild, unraveling in the best way possible.

Just then, a faint, eerie voice whispered from the depths of his mind. It was his voice, but it carried an unsettling, unfamiliar chill.

"It's good to be back."
