Chapter 65 - Chapter:65

"Shisui" died at the hands of Danzo?!

Although Asuma wasn't particularly close to Uchiha Shisui, he knew the man's reputation—a genius of the Uchiha clan, a descendant of Uchiha Kagami, and a prodigy from the Second Hokage's elite guard corps.

Shisui inherited the "Will of Fire" passed down from Uchiha Kagami and the First Hokage, surpassing the narrow-minded tribalism of his clan.

He was a staunch supporter of the Hokage faction—everything he did was for the village.

But Danzo claimed he died on a mission… and that his body was never found?!

Then why were Shisui's eyes found on Danzo now?!

Could it be that…

Asuma didn't dare to think about it any further.

If this was true… then the massacre of the Uchiha wasn't as simple as they had believed!

"Haha!" Haruto chuckled faintly.

"The Uchiha's Sharingan is indeed powerful, but their lack of strength turned it into their death warrant."

"Danzo had his eyes set on the Uchiha's Sharingan for a long time!"

"When did it start?" Haruto mused.

"Perhaps… ever since he witnessed Uchiha Kagami's power."

"What?!"

Sarutobi Hiruzen's expression changed drastically.

"Are you saying that Kagami's eyes were also taken by Danzo?!"

His old eyes widened in horrified disbelief.

"Haha! You should know better than I do how the truth of this matter really is!"

"Danzo, you b*d!!!"

Sarutobi Hiruzen's voice boomed, nearly a roar.

How much did he do behind my back?!

Kagami.

Shisui.

Itachi.

The Uchiha massacre.

White Fang's death.

Orochimaru's defection.

Danzo always claimed everything was for Konoha's sake, but what did he actually bring to the village?!

Most of Konoha's strongest fighters—the core pillars of the village—were all ruined by Danzo's own hands!

The state of decline Konoha was in today—was all because of him!

"Don't just blame him."

Haruto suddenly interjected.

"You hold **responsibility too!"

"How dare you speak to the Hokage like that!"

A nearby Anbu immediately snapped at Haruto, furious at his insolence.

"Shut up!"

Asuma immediately stepped forward, silencing the Anbu.

Right now, they needed Haruto's favor.

If Haruto became unhappy, he might crush this Anbu on the spot—and Asuma knew that wasn't a joke.

After all, he had been there when Haruto wiped out two Root members with a flick of his hand.

That kind of power…

Even his father had never made him feel such pressure.

Haruto narrowed his eyes.

A subtle yet terrifying energy emanated from him, fixating on the Anbu like a predator sizing up prey.

Asuma's forehead was already soaked with sweat.

"Apologize to the boss!" Asuma kicked the Anbu's leg, forcing him to kneel before Haruto.

The Anbu, though reluctant, bowed his head and gritted his teeth.

"…I apologize."

Asuma forced a smile and looked at Haruto.

"Boss, he's new to Anbu and isn't very sensible yet. Please let him off this time!"

Haruto turned his gaze toward Asuma.

His eyes narrowed slightly, and for a moment, the atmosphere grew unbearably tense.

Asuma felt like he could barely breathe.

"Alright."

Haruto finally exhaled, breaking the tension.

Sarutobi Hiruzen waved his hand.

"Leave."

The Anbu immediately bolted out of the shop, nearly tripping over himself.

As soon as he got outside, the Anbu collapsed, his chest heaving violently.

For the first time, he realized—

He had just brushed past the gates of hell.

Inside the shop, Sarutobi Hiruzen sighed deeply.

"You're right…"

"I am the one most responsible for Konoha's downfall."

"If I had been stronger—if I had acted sooner—Danzo would never have been able to do what he did!"

His entire presence seemed to wilt.

For the first time in his life, the Third Hokage looked defeated.

"Old man!"

Asuma looked at his father in concern.

"I'm fine," Hiruzen replied, taking a deep drag from his pipe.

After a long silence, he finally looked at Haruto.

"You… know far more about Konoha than I expected."

"Just who are you?"

"Haha!"

Haruto laughed.

"I'm just an egg seller!"

"I don't know anything."

Sarutobi Hiruzen studied Haruto, deep in thought.

A moment later, he sighed.

"If a day ever comes when Konoha faces disaster, I only hope you will lend a hand."

"Haha!"

Haruto smirked.

"I'm just an egg seller."

"As long as nothing interferes with my business, I won't interfere with anyone else."

"Good enough for me."

Sarutobi Hiruzen bowed slightly.

"Thank you, Haruto."

Then, he turned and left the Golden Egg Shop.

Hokage's Office.

The moment Sarutobi Hiruzen returned, his expression hardened.

"Anbu—summon the Elders immediately!"

"Yes!"

An Anbu disappeared in a flash.

Not long after, Koharu Utatane and Homura Mitokado entered.

"Hiruzen, what's wrong?"

"You called us here so urgently—where is Danzo?"

The mention of Danzo made Hiruzen's face darken.

"Sit down."

His voice was grim.

Both elders suddenly felt…

Something serious had happened.

Not long after Sarutobi Hiruzen left, a new customer arrived.

However…

This guest was truly unexpected.
