Finding out who my mate would be was had been completely unexpected. My father had really done it this time. To just surprise me like that.
"Good for you sister you get the strongest wolf to be your mate," I then heard a familiar voice say to me spitefully from behind me.
I stopped in the hallway for a moment realizing it was Elodie behind me. I contemplated for a moment and realized it was not worth the hassle. I was too tired for this. So, I ignored her and continued walking.
After a moment I then heard her speak. "You, come over here," she ordered. I saw a servant walking down the hallway rush toward her. I then stopped and turned around to see what she was doing. The servant went to Elodie, once she was close enough Elodie grabbed her and forcefully turned her around so she was facing me. The servant shrieked in fear. Elodie brought her hand to the servant's neck and bared her claws.
"Elodie let her go," I tried to stop her, but she didn't listen to me. Why was she doing this? I wondered.
"So you'll ignore me but gain interest for a mere slave?" she asked me furiously. "I don't understand you sister; you always show compassion for slaves. They are not nobility like you and me, nor are they even Teneb citizens. They come from weak wolf packs that lost to our father. This is what they get for losing. Their lives are worthless and meaningless."
"Elodie enough," I tried to stop her once more. Even if I changed to my wolf form and rushed to stop her I wouldn't make it in time her claw was too close to the servants neck.
They live only to serve us and when we deem them useless, we end them," she said as she proceeded to slice her neck, her claw going right through the metal collar and to her neck.
My mouth opened in horror at her actions. "What was the point of that!?" I demanded her to explain as I stared at the slave who was most likely dead now.
"You are not fit to be the one who mates with the next Alpha and gives birth to the next heir. You are too weak and pathetic. I don't even know why father favours you. Only because of that woman!" she yelled by that woman she was referring to my mother.
My eyes narrowed as I looked at slave on the floor who was most likely dead. I was angry about her mentioning my mother, but I wouldn't fall for her trap and be quick to anger. "You're unusually talkative today, Elodie," I pointed out to her. "You usually make a snide comment and leave so why draw me out like this now?"
"That woman was also weak just like you. It's no wonder she got sick and died," she spat out harshly. She had quite the sharp tongue. Had anyone else said this I would be offended.
"It's not my fault father chose me to marry the man you love," I said to spite her back. I knew that's what this was all really about,
Elodie turned bright red with anger. "What are you talking about?" she growled at me.
"Oh, please I saw the way you were staring at Tagryn all day. You were basically eye-raping him. You looked so desperate. It was laughable," I mocked and began to laugh.
"Shut your mouth!" she yelled raising her voice. She was starting to get agitated.
'Got you', I thought to myself.
I then saw two figures coming from behind Elodie. Elodie, however hadn't seemed to have heard the two figures approaching.
So, I decided to aggravate her even more. "If you want maybe when I'm married to him maybe I can lend him to you from time to time since you seem so desperate for him…" I said.
"You stupid b**ch!" she yelled as she lunged toward me. Her teeth and claws were bared.
I stood still and stared her head on, not making an effort to dodge.
"What is going on here?!" A loud deep voice yelled out stopping Elodie in her tracks. She went pale and her eyes widened in horror. She quickly put away her claws and teeth.
A small smile appeared on my face as I looked at her.
"Father," she said in shock as she turned to face him. It was the King and Queen that had been approaching from behind Elodie. "I-I was…just…" Elodie stammered as she tried to explain what had happened.
"Why would you attack your sister like that?" Our father demanded her, his voice booming and reverberating in the hallway.
Elodie shivered and couldn't bring herself to say anything.
"Rian just got engaged and yet you were about to ruin her appearance! What would her fiancé think?" He yelled at Elodie. I noted how my father wasn't worried about me just getting hurt in general it was the fact that Tagryn would be upset. "What were you thinking? Do you want people make "
"Rian must have said something in order to provoke princess Elodie," the Queen said in defence of her daughter. She was glaring at me again. She really thought I was the one who started this.
After a moment my father sighed. "I don't want to see you two fighting again," my father told Elodie and I.
He then turned to Elodie and the queen, "you two go on ahead we will follow shortly."
They then began to walk away with grumpy expressions on their. I didn't want to be alone with father though. He then turned to me.
"What was this about?" he asked referring to the body of the servant on the floor.
"I'm not sure," I responded.
"I told you need to get along with your sister," he reprimanded me. "You are the heir of the kingdom and the older sister I expect you to set an example."
