Chapter 34 - Mysterious boy

The next morning, Melly tried to push away the unease from the night before. She convinced herself it had been a trick of the mind, stress from adjusting to college life. But deep inside, she knew better.

She walked into her first lecture, determined to keep her mind focused. That was when she saw him.

Kelvin.

Tall, lean, and strikingly handsome, with sharp green eyes that seemed to see right through her. He sat near the window, effortlessly charming the students around him with his easy smile and smooth voice. But the moment his gaze landed on Melly, something in his expression changed—intense, almost predatory.

Throughout the lecture, she felt his eyes on her, watching. Studying.

When class ended, Melly gathered her books quickly, eager to leave, but as she stepped toward the door, Kelvin appeared in front of her. His movement was too smooth, too precise, as if he had anticipated her every step.

"Melly, right?" His voice was deep, alluring, but something about it made her uneasy. "You dropped this."

He held out a notebook—her notebook. But Melly knew she hadn't dropped anything.

She hesitated before taking it. "Thanks."

He smiled, tilting his head slightly. "It's my pleasure. You should be more careful."

Something in his tone felt… off. Melly didn't respond, choosing instead to walk past him. But she could feel his gaze trailing after her.

Over the next few days, strange things kept happening. Books slipping from her hands. Pens rolling off her desk. Her bag suddenly unzipping and spilling its contents. And every single time, Kelvin was there—ready to help, offering her his hand, his smile, his unwavering attention.

At first, Melly thought it was a coincidence. But then she noticed the way he always seemed to be nearby, as if he knew exactly where she would be.

Then came the whispers.

Late at night, as she walked back to her dorm, she would hear footsteps behind her—steady, deliberate. When she turned, no one was there. But the feeling of being watched never left.

One evening, as she entered the library, a shiver ran down her spine. She didn't have to look to know who it was.

Kelvin.

He stood at the entrance, leaning casually against the doorway, watching her with a small smirk.

"You always seem to be in trouble, Melly," he said smoothly. "Good thing I'm always around to help."

Melly clenched her fists, her magic tingling beneath her fingertips. This was no coincidence. Kelvin wasn't just being friendly.

He was stalking her.

And she needed to find out why.

Determined to uncover the truth, Melly decided to get closer to him. If Kelvin was so interested in her business, then she would turn the tables and find out why.

Kelvin told her he was the son of a business tycoon, with both of his parents living abroad. He was their only child and claimed he simply found Melly beautiful and wanted to be friends. His words were smooth, well-rehearsed, but something wasn't adding up.

Melly had been in the immortal realm before. She knew what a shapeshifter looked like when she saw one. Kelvin's movements, his presence—it all reminded her of a werewolf in disguise. But she wasn't completely sure.

She needed proof.

A test.

And she knew exactly how to set one up.
