The clerk's voice startled Chloe Grant, causing her body to tremble slightly, her heart began pounding wildly, and her entire face flushed red.

She walked over and picked it up, turned around, and put the money she had been holding onto the counter.

The "him" Lily Grant was referring to is the man who had taken care of Chloe Grant for ten years, her nominal uncle — Lucas Morgan.
The first time Chloe Grant met him at the age of ten, she was captivated by his looks and since then had fallen deeply in love, adoring and loving him for a full ten years!
