Chapter 71 - Chapter 71: The Guild's Treasure

Chapter 71: The Guild's Treasure

During one of his classes, Barty Crouch Jr., disguised as Mad-Eye Moody, mentioned that the Killing Curse cast by young wizards could only make adult wizards bleed from the nose. George had also learned from Hagrid that most large magical creatures had strong resistance to magic.

Therefore, the Killing Curse wasn't an absolute death spell—it was relative.

If the target of the Killing Curse had extraordinary vitality and high magical resistance, they could potentially withstand it.

For example, dragons. There had never been a case of a dragon being instantly killed by a dark wizard's Killing Curse.

The usual method to subdue a dragon was to use the Conjunctivitus Curse to temporarily blind it, followed by a hundred adult wizards simultaneously casting the Sleeping Spell to put it to sleep.

If George were to transform into a giant in the Harry Potter world, he wouldn't have to fear ordinary dark wizards casting the Killing Curse at him.

If he were ever surrounded by too many dark wizards, he wasn't foolish enough to stand there and let them attack him.

Time quickly passed, and by evening, as George was about to leave the library, he noticed a locked door deep inside.

"Levy, what's behind that door?"

He suspected that the locked door might contain some particularly powerful magic, similar to the Restricted Section in the Hogwarts library.

Earlier, while explaining Light Magic, Levy had mentioned that the first Master of Fairy Tail had created three of the most powerful Light-based Super Magics, said to be incredibly potent.

Of course, Levy had also said that this was just hearsay, as she had never seen the Master use them.

This led George to speculate that the locked door might contain the books on these three Super Magics.

Levy shook her head as she looked at the door George was pointing at.

"I'm not sure, but I've heard from Mirajane that only the Master can enter there. The door is sealed with a very complex and powerful magical barrier.

Once, Natsu got curious and tried to sneak in, but the barrier sent him flying. He was unconscious for two days before he woke up."

"Once I'm stronger, I'll definitely find a way to sneak in and take a look."

Hearing this, George became even more convinced that his guess was likely correct.

Returning to the first-floor hall, George found that aside from Cana, who was drinking, and Mirajane, who was humming while cleaning, most of the mages were gone.

Some were out on missions, while others had returned to their dorms.

Fairy Tail had dedicated male and female dormitories in the town for its mages.

They only needed to pay a small rent each month. For those who wanted better accommodations, they could rent a villa in town.

"You're back! I saved some food for you. Come and try it."

Seeing George, Levy, Jet, and Droy appear, Mirajane put down her cleaning tools and brought out four servings of dinner from the bar, placing them on the table.

Mirajane wasn't just the face of the guild; she was also the guild's housekeeper. She managed the bar's drinks and food, as well as the guild's finances and miscellaneous tasks.

"Mirajane, you're the best!"

The petite Levy hugged Mirajane and then began eating heartily. She often stayed up late reading and would go hungry, but Mirajane always saved dinner for her.

"Thank you, Mirajane!"

Jet, Droy, and George all expressed their gratitude to Mirajane.

As George was about to sit down and eat, he noticed the half-cleaned hall. After a moment's thought, he waved his paws and began chanting a spell.

"Scourgify!"

Instantly, the dirt on the tables and floors gathered together and fell into the trash bin. The scattered cups and dishes flew neatly back to the bar, clean and organized.

In the blink of an eye, the entire hall was spotless.

"What kind of magic is that?"

Seeing George's actions, Mirajane and the others were stunned.

Among the magics they knew, there was nothing like this.

"It's a Cleaning Charm, a household spell. I learned it by accident during my travels. It's not for combat—just for cleaning."

George casually made up an excuse and began eating his dinner with his tail holding a spoon.

Since he wasn't planning to go on missions and wanted to stay in the guild to study magic, he couldn't just sit around doing nothing.

Helping to repair the hall and clean up would demonstrate his value and earn everyone's goodwill.

As for money, with the Undetectable Extension Charm, he wasn't worried. Making a few spatial storage devices and selling them in different cities would bring in money faster than taking on missions.

"It seems you know quite a few magics, George."

Mirajane sat next to George and couldn't resist reaching out to pat his cat head.

Being petted, George instinctively felt comforted, but his rational mind quickly suppressed the physical pleasure. He dodged Mirajane's hand:

"Most of them are non-combat spells. I can't compare to everyone else."

"George, you don't need to fight. Just focus on mastering that Repair Magic. If anyone dares to bully you, the entire guild will rip their head off and use it as a ball!"

Jet joked, though his words weren't entirely exaggerated.

George was now the guild's treasure. Anyone who dared to harm him would face the wrath of the entire guild, especially Master Makarov.

Hearing Jet's words, everyone burst into laughter.

George could only shake his head helplessly. He thought this wasn't a bad situation. At least in this world, he had a reliable backer and didn't have to worry about his safety.

After eating and chatting, it was already dark by the time they finished.

Locking the guild's doors, Mirajane carried the drunken Cana, and they all headed toward the town center.

Mirajane and Levy were returning to the guild's dormitories, while George was heading back to the inn. Since part of their paths overlapped, they walked together.

After returning to the inn, George began summarizing the magical knowledge he had learned that day and started practicing the basics of Giant Magic, attempting to partially enlarge his body.

It was best to start with fingers and toes, as they were easier to practice. Alternatively, he could start with something smaller.

Over the next few days, George settled into a routine of studying and researching magic.

He was always the first to arrive at the guild each day, heading straight to the library to read or chasing after Master Makarov in the hall to ask for guidance on magic. Occasionally, he would help repair the guild hall or clean up.

In the evenings, he usually left with Levy's team. When they were out on missions, he would leave alone.

As time passed, he became more familiar with the guild's mages and learned things he hadn't known before.

For example, Natsu didn't just use ordinary Fire Magic—he used Dragon Slayer Magic, a type of magic used by dragons. It was far more powerful than regular Fire Magic and allowed him to consume any flame to replenish his magical energy.

This meant that ordinary fire mages were completely outmatched by Dragon Slayer mages like Natsu.

George also learned that Natsu had been raised by a dragon, who had taught him magic. One day, the dragon suddenly disappeared, and Natsu eventually joined Fairy Tail.

He was practically a human dragon.

Sometimes, George wondered if he could use Natsu's hair as the core for his wand in this world.

It might be a good choice.
