Chapter 149: Battle to the Death Against an S-Class!
"Yes, Master!"
Aria, upon hearing Jose's command, immediately launched a fatal attack against Makarov—whose consciousness was already fading after having his magic drained.
"Death Sky: Zero!"
A swirling void of annihilation formed, poised to shred Makarov into pieces.
But at the critical moment—
A golden streak flashed through the air.
George, who had already taken flight the moment Aria appeared, swooped in and yanked Makarov out of the attack's range just in time.
"You dare interfere?!"
Jose, enraged at Makarov's survival, lashed out with dark magic to obliterate George.
But three figures intercepted him.
"Reequip: Black Wing Armor!"
"Fire Dragon's Roar!"
"Ice-Make: Snow Cannon!"
Fairy Tail's strongest trio—Erza, Natsu, and Gray—stood united against Jose.
Meanwhile, George swiftly descended, handing Makarov over to Mirajane.
"Get the Master out of here! Rally everyone to retreat!"
Even weakened, Jose was far beyond Erza, Natsu, and Gray. Their only hope was to regroup and return once Makarov recovered.
"Beware of Aria! You must defeat him before he opens his eyes—his magic surges uncontrollably once he does!"
Mirajane urgently relayed the intel as Aria closed in. Right now, George was the only one who could stop him.
But Aria was the leader of the Element Four. George had beaten Gajeel through a hard counter—this fight would be entirely different.
"Keep his eyes shut… Got it."
An idea sparked.
"Avada Kedavra!"
George spun and fired the Killing Curse without hesitation.
Aria's instincts screamed—he barely dodged the emerald beam. Even grazing it would've meant death or crippling injury.
"Sectumsempra!"
Before Aria could recover, George slashed the air with an invisible blade of cursed wind.
Had it connected cleanly, it would have bisected Aria on the spot.
But Aria—even blinded—erupted with raw magical energy, deflecting most of the spell. Only a shallow cut marred his abdomen.
Yet the curse's lingering effect made the wound bleed incessantly, slowing his reflexes.
And George was already casting his third spell.
The first two attacks were feints—meant to distract. The real trap was this one: harmless, easily overlooked, but devastating for Aria.
"Obscuro!"
A Darkness Jinx—used by wizards to blind dragons and even Basilisk.
Aria's eyes snapped shut, sealed by magic.
No eye-opening, no full power.
"My eyes!"
Aria staggered back, momentarily disoriented. Then he smirked.
"A clever trick, little cat. But even at half-strength, I'm still the strongest of the Four!"
He didn't need sight to fight. Years of training blind had honed his air sense to perfection.
"Let me end your misery."
With a wave, dozens of magic circles materialized—air cannons bombarded George from all directions.
"Protego!"
George's Shield Charm, amplified twentyfold by his wand, held firm against the barrage.
But when the dust cleared—
Aria was gone.
"Shit—!"
A voice hissed behind him.
"How does it feel? The same despair Makarov tasted."
Aria had cloaked himself, slipping behind George for the same magic-draining strike.
"Sky Shatter: Annihilation!"
The spell activated—
"Psych."
George's terrified expression vanished.
His body swelled into a five-meter-tall super-cat, and he swung a paw the size of a boulder.
WHAM!
Aria was launched like a ragdoll, crashing toward the guild below.
But George wasn't done.
"Finish him."
A dozen bladed discs shot from his backpack, streaking after Aria.
S-Class durability meant the first hit wouldn't kill—but decapitation would.
The blades homed in, slicing through Aria's neck before he even hit the ground.
His head tumbled separately.
Fairy Tail's scholar had claimed his first S-Class kill.
