Chapter 160: Apparition Made So Simple (Part 1)
With Amy's one-on-one teaching, George gained new understanding of Apparition.
Having a teacher was very different from self-study. Many things not written in books, many experiential insights, could be learned from a teacher's instruction.
Moreover, the teacher could adjust the teaching pace based on your feedback.
As dusk fell, Amy poured herself a glass of water to soothe her dry throat.
"After explaining so much at once, do you understand?"
"Yes. I want to try now. If there's splinching, please heal me immediately."
George nodded and drew his wand from his waist.
Actually, he had already learned most of the theoretical knowledge about Apparition through self-study.
The only reason he hadn't dared to try was fear of splinching without anyone to heal him.
After Amy's explanations, his theoretical understanding of Apparition had deepened further. Plus, if splinching did occur, Amy could promptly reattach him.
So he felt it was time for practical attempts.
"So soon? You should know even sixth-years need months of theoretical study before gradually attempting practice. You've only studied for half a day. Do you really understand everything I explained?"
Amy stared at George and advised:
"Learning spells, especially advanced ones, requires time and patience. Rushing won't help."
Her plan was to have George study theory for two months before practice. That way, even if he couldn't perform it due to insufficient magic, she would have taught for two months - if no merit, at least hard work.
She believed George wouldn't have the heart to withhold the remaining payment.
But trying now was also fine. If he couldn't do it, she could just say his theoretical foundation wasn't solid enough yet.
"Don't worry. As long as you teach earnestly, even if I don't learn it in the end, the hundred Galleons won't be short a single coin."
George saw through Amy's little scheme at a glance and spoke generously.
How could a first-year have enough magic to perform Apparition? He knew this perfectly well - even Voldemort couldn't do it in first year.
Normal wizards' magic grows with age, basically reaching full development by adulthood.
But he was different. Besides wizard bloodline magic, he had cat magic and the magic from his meditating panda form currently leveling up as a mage. His total magic definitely exceeded ordinary adult wizards.
So as long as he mastered the spell, he could absolutely perform it successfully.
He didn't care about Amy's little schemes either. As long as she taught earnestly and helped deal with splinching, a hundred Galleons meant nothing.
"You said it yourself! A man's word is his bond - no take-backs!"
Amy's face immediately broke into a brilliant smile. Standing up and waving her wand:
"Let's start practicing now. First try Apparating from here in the living room to your bedroom."
"Remember the key points - clearly visualize your bedroom scene, believe you can definitely arrive, absolutely don't doubt yourself..."
Even though she knew George couldn't do it, to show her attitude she earnestly instructed on Apparition's key points.
George also stood from the sofa, took a deep breath, closed his eyes and began waving his wand as Amy instructed, chanting the spell:
"Apparate!"
As the incantation finished, a soft popping sound like a backfiring car echoed in his ears.
His body felt sucked into a narrow rubber tube, squeezed inside for about two seconds before being expelled like defecation.

Opening his eyes again, he found himself in his small bedroom.
"Success! So Apparition is this simple!"
The first attempt at Apparition didn't result in splinching. The whole process felt incredibly smooth, much easier than imagined.
Thinking about it, this made sense.
For normal young wizards it truly wasn't easy. Never mind theory, just clearly visualizing the destination wasn't simple.
Many wizards didn't have great memories, making it hard to clearly manifest the destination scene in their minds.
George already had third-level psychic abilities, giving him particular advantage here. Just one glance let him perfectly recall the scene from memory without deliberate effort.
Even a single strand of hair in the scene would be visible to him.
So the spell's first requirement posed no difficulty to him.
The second requirement - determination, meaning firmly believing you can do it.
Actually many spells required this. Having learned so many spells, George deeply understood this point and had ample experience.
The last was deliberateness - no panic or fear.
Young wizards all knew learning Apparition could lead to splinching, even fatal cases. How could they not feel afraid?
Especially when practicing together, possibly witnessing classmates splinch right beside them.
But George wasn't afraid. Firstly, he wasn't just a young wizard - he'd killed across worlds. Mere splinching was nothing.
More importantly, this was just one of his clones. Even with worst luck dying from splinching, it would only mean losing one clone. Why would he feel nervous or afraid?
So meeting all three requirements, with ample magic and rich theoretical knowledge, let him successfully complete his first Apparition attempt.
"Apparate!"
Apparating again, he disappeared from the bedroom and reappeared on the living room sofa.
Meanwhile Amy stared at George, mouth agape in complete disbelief.
A first-year learning Apparition in half a day? Impossible! It completely defied her understanding.
Even with amazing talent and learning ability, what about magic power? First-years' magic was just beginning to develop.
Could this child have been born with magic far surpassing others, a first-year with adult-level reserves?
"Just so you know - even if you learned Apparition early, not one of those hundred Galleons can be missing!"
Snapping back to reality, Amy immediately spoke up.
However talented George was seemed irrelevant to her. Her current concern was having only taught one day - would George refuse to pay the remaining eighty Galleons?
"Don't worry. I've only grasped the basics and still need your continued guidance."
"Moreover, even after mastering Apparition, you can instruct me on other spells."
"So the remaining eighty Galleons won't be missing. If you teach well, I'll even add more."
George replied indifferently.
He didn't want this three-to-four second Apparition, but to reach Amy's under-one-second speed for practical combat use.
Thus Apparition training would continue.
