Chapter 172: The Headmaster's Might
At this moment, Banner had already understood that even if he became an ordinary person, he still couldn't live a normal life with Betty.
Because just now, on the helicopter, Thaddeus Ross had told him that if the Hulk was gone from his body, he would face a lifetime of imprisonment.
In fact, he couldn't become an ordinary person. The serum researched by Dr. Sterns was unable to remove the Hulk genes from his body.
Since that was the case, he might as well join the superhuman academy where George was.
On one hand, George could easily help him revert from his Hulk state, so he would no longer have to worry about harming innocent people after transforming.
On the other hand, if he didn't join the superhuman academy, he would have to continue wandering, being hunted by S.H.I.E.L.D., General Ross, and even any faction coveting his genes.
"Very well, then let's return to the academy. From now on, you'll be responsible for the physics class, which will lighten Charles' workload."
Seeing that Banner agreed, George nodded, then brought him to stand in front of the Abomination.
"Wingardium Leviosa!"
With a levitation spell, the Abomination slowly floated up. George planned to take both the Abomination and Banner back to the school by flying.
At present, he could teleport with someone using Apparition, but he still couldn't take multiple people at once, especially when one of them exceeded the size limit that Apparition could handle.
"Wait, you can't leave!"
Just then, the helicopter landed, and Ross, along with Betty and the soldiers, came over, blocking their way.
At the same time, the troops that had been hiding around due to the battle between the Abomination and the Hulk now surrounded them once again.
"You must be General Ross."
George sized up Ross and smiled. "May I ask what the matter is?"
"Everything here belongs to the military. You cannot take them away, and you must also come with me for investigation."
General Ross waved his hand, and over a hundred soldiers pointed their guns at George.
He would never give up either the Abomination or the Hulk. As long as he could obtain these two specimens, he could create a large batch of super soldiers far surpassing Captain America, sweeping through all nations.
As for George, possessing so many strange abilities, he might be an undiscovered mutant, also worth bringing back for research.
"Father, what are you saying? He saved us, and you're still acting like this?!"
Betty looked at her father in disbelief, then angrily pushed aside the soldier blocking her and stood beside Banner.
Seeing this, George didn't reply to Ross but instead looked at Betty and invited her:
"Dr. Betty Ross, our school is still short of a biology teacher. Would you be interested?"
"Yes, I'd love to be a teacher at your school."
Betty glared at her father before hugging Banner's arm and responding.
Seeing this, Ross signaled to his elite soldiers:
"Escort Miss Betty home, and take these people back to the base."
At Ross' command, two elite soldiers moved towards George's group, while the surrounding soldiers raised their guns, aiming at George and Banner to prevent them from resisting.
George shook his head helplessly.
"You people never understand the power dynamics. Even Nick Fury wouldn't dare provoke me without absolute confidence.
You saw how easily I handled the threat you couldn't deal with, yet you still want to play this game with me.
Do you think I'm too easygoing, or do I just look like a fool to you?"
With a lift of his hand, his magnetic control ability was fully activated. The weapons in all the soldiers' hands were forcibly pulled away and then turned back, pointing at their own heads.
"From now on, put your hands on your heads and lie on the ground. If not for the fact that you're related to one of our school's teachers, I'd have left you hanging naked in the sky all day, just to see if you understand the meaning of shame!"
Honestly, sometimes he really found this country's high-ranking officials baffling—their blind confidence in their own power.
Nick Fury was the same, though slightly better, as he wasn't as foolish.
If it weren't for the many superheroes constantly saving the world, relying on these so-called government leaders alone, the world would have been destroyed by villains countless times before Thanos even arrived.
If not for wanting to leave a good impression on his two new teachers, today, General Ross' actions would have been enough to warrant his demise.
With the power he now held, aside from beings like the Ancient One, Odin, or Captain Marvel, he hardly considered most individuals or organizations a threat.
Especially now that he had mastered Apparition, which allowed for instant teleportation.
"Sir, I advise you to remain calm. If you do this, you will be wanted nationwide. Even if you don't care, you surely have family and friends, and they will be affected.
How about this—I'll let you leave alone without pursuing what you've done, as long as you leave them behind."
Ross never expected George to control all their weapons. At this moment, he had no choice but to compromise.
He believed that George's ability to subdue the Abomination and Hulk was due to some special superpower, but that didn't necessarily mean he could resist modern military weaponry.
He had read some materials about mutants—some with powerful abilities could destroy cities, but that didn't mean they could withstand a single bullet.
Yet now, it turned out George had an ability that directly countered modern weaponry.
"Densaugeo!"
With a flick of George's hand, Ross, who was still making veiled threats, suddenly had his front teeth grow rapidly until they reached his collar, forcing him to shut his mouth.
"Feel free to put a bounty on me. But whoever signs the order, I will personally visit them that night for a 'pleasant' discussion."
Nick Fury was currently locked in a heated battle with Hydra and had no energy to deal with him. If any other department dared to provoke him, he wouldn't mind having a nice chat with their leader—it would serve as a deterrent.
To be honest, those departments might not even be able to locate the school. Unlike S.H.I.E.L.D., they lacked the necessary technology.
"We should go now."
Seeing that all the soldiers, including General Ross, had obediently laid on the ground, George cast a Disillusionment Charm over himself, Banner, Betty, and the Abomination, rendering them invisible. Then, spreading his wings, he carried them toward the school.
"Father, if you still have any love for me, please don't come looking for us again."
As she slowly rose into the air, Betty shouted at her father below.
Ross stood up and looked at the empty sky, his expression complicated.
About a minute later, the guns hovering in the air all fell to the ground. Ross stood silently for a moment before instructing his communication officer:
"Contact Nick Fury. I want to know who this guy really is. Also, get me a dentist."
