After Remy woke up the next day in Deth's villa, feeling a mix of emotions. She hadn't seen him since the previous night, but the maid was there to assist her. "Master Kaidën had some urgent business to attend to," the maid explained. "He'll be back in a few days."
Remy didn't mind the solitude. In fact, she appreciated Deth's kindness in letting her stay. After Sophia and Julian's wedding, she couldn't bear the thought of returning home, where everyone would be gossiping about the newlyweds. She felt suffocated by the thought.
Remy's mind was also troubled. She had tried calling Avery, Jake, Axel, and Drel, but none of their numbers were connecting.
She worried about what Helena might have done to them after firing them. Despite her quite temporary stay at his villa she couldn't help but feel a sense of unease, wondering what may lay ahead.
The villa's beautiful surroundings were a slight distraction though. The spacious rooms overlooked a serene garden, filled with vibrant flowers and the soothing sound of a small fountain.
A private pool sparkled in the sunlight, surrounded by comfortable lounge chairs. Remy spent her days the villa, taking in the peaceful atmosphere, she was glad that finally a day had at least passed in her life without Sophia and Helena's drama.
Remy's peaceful time at the villa were however, short-lived. One evening, as she sat in the parlor, she decided to catch up on the latest news, she turned on the television.
She tuned into the first channel, but her attention was immediately caught by a report on the recent wedding between Sophia and Julian.
The reporter was discussing the latest rich couples in town who were set to inherit their family businesses, and Sophia and Julian were being hailed as the golden couple.
Remy's finger was already pressed down on the remote button to change the channel, but then a headline caught her attention:
"HELENA AND GRANT HARRISON GIFTS VAUGHN GLORY TO THEIR DAUGHTER SOPHIA AND HER HUSBAND JULIAN AS WEDDING GIFT! NEWLYWEDS BECOME MAJOR OWNERS OF VAUGHN GLORY INC."
What. The. Hell??!!
Remy's eyes flashed with shock as she sat upright. What was her stepmother thinking, gifting her late mother's company to Sophia as a wedding gift?! The only legacy her mom had left her was being handed over to Sophia. This had to be some kind of cruel joke.
Remy watched in shock as her father, Grant Harrison, stepped onto the podium, holding a stack of documents. He presented them, his voice trembling with emotion.
"This is my late wife Adelaide's will," he began. "Since her passing, I've managed the company on her behalf. She loved Vaughn Glory, and I promised her I'd protect her legacy... and pass it down to our daughter."
The reporter raised an eyebrow. "Mr. Harrison, isn't the daughter you're talking about supposed to be Remy instead? And not Sophia?"
Helena glared at the reporter and had wanted to say something before Grant Harrison cleared his throat, dabbing his eyes with a handkerchief.
"Remy is indeed my late wife's daughter, but... we all know Remy's condition. Managing a fashion company would be too stressful for her. We want her to rest, not burden herself with the company's responsibilities."
He forced a smile. "Sophia and Remy have always been close. I'm sure Remy understands our decision. She's given us her blessing to pass the company to Sophia, who will take it to new heights."
Remy's eyes narrowed in outrage. Her blessing? That was a lie. She had no idea what was going on, and now her family was doing this on live television.
Remy ruffled her hair in frustration. Where had her father even gotten those documents from? This had to be a forged will. It couldn't be real. She grabbed her phone and dialed Alexandra's number, the president of Vaughn Glory.
The phone rang multiple times before Alexandra finally picked up. "Remy, what's going on?" she asked, her voice cautious.
"What's going on?" Remy repeated, her voice harsh. "You're telling me! What's happening with my father and those documents on live?"
Alexandra's voice trembled. "I don't know, Remy. I swear, I don't know where he got those documents from. And to be honest, I don't think they're forged."
Remy's heart sank. "What do you mean?"
"Half of the board of directors is already supporting him," Alexandra said. "And Sophia Harrison is scheduled to be sworn in as the new president tomorrow morning."
"You've got to be kidding me, right?" Remy asked, incredulous.
But Alexandra's serious tone made her realize this was no joke. "I'm not kidding, Remy. Tomorrow morning, Sophia is going to be sworn in as the new president of Vaughn Glory. That's what your father has decided."
Remy's eyes widened in outrage. "But that's not what my mother's will said! It was supposed to be passed down to me, her daughter."
Alexandra hesitated. "Actually, Remy, if what he presented is really your mother's will, because it seems so, then it did state that the company should be passed down to her daughter... but it didn't specify which daughter."
Remi's face fell. "What do you mean?"
Alexandra explained, "As your father is the husband of the late Adelaide, he still reserves the right to announce or hand over the company to anyone he wants. And since he owns a significant amount of shares in the company, he can essentially choose who takes over Vaughn Glory."
"So, you're telling me that my father can just decide to give the company to Sophia, even though it's supposed to be mine?"
Alexandra nodded. "I'm afraid so, Remy. I know this isn't what you wanted, but I have to advise you on the legalities of the situation."
The line went dead silent for a few seconds. Remy didn't respond, her mind had gone blank.
"Hello? Remy, are you still there?" Alexandra asked, her voice tinged with concern. "Please don't do anything rash. You have to calm down. You can try to find the original will of your mother, check around the house or something, see if you can find it. If your father presented a forged will, we need proof."
But Remy remained silent. She didn't respond, didn't even breathe into the phone. Suddenly, the call ended, and Alexandra was left with only silence.
Remi's mind was quickly putting together possibilities, next steps, and actions she could take. She couldn't let Sophia take over her mother's company. But before she could come up with anything, another headline caught her attention.
KAIDËN'S FAMILY REAL HEIR REVEALED!!
"We have just received word that the Kaidën family is officially announcing their real heir! What a shocking twist! It turns out that the Kaidën family actually had an older son, apart from their daughter Kaida, who had been managing the company for three years now, who is going to be in charge of the family assets!"
"Let's welcome the newly announced heir Deth Chris Kaidën, the son of Master Kaiden Grey".
The reporter announced as he stepped out onto the podium, looking very dashing in his sleek black suit. His hair was perfectly styled, and his face was calm and confident.
His sister Kaida Kaidën, who was dressed in a stunning formal attire stood by his side with same cold expression as Deth.
He gave a brief, smooth speech, introducing himself. Then he stepped aside, making way for his father.
Master Kaiden Grey took the podium, his voice firm. He gracefully made a few quick announcements, confirming Deth as his first son and the true heir to the Kaidën fortune.
Remy watched in total surprise as everything unfolded. Two heavy news in a day? She couldn't believe that Deth, was really the heir to the Kaidën fortune.
No wonder he was so audacious, and now she looked at them, she couldn't help but notice the resemblance between him and Master Grey Kaidën.
